More than 2000 pupils in Njombe District, Njombe Region received desks from Tigo in partnership with the Hassan Maajar Trust (HMT) recently.
HMT and Tigo donated 680 desks at Ruhuji in Njombe District, Njombe Region on Octber 22nd. Zena M Tenga, on behalf of the HMT chairperson, together with Ladislaus Karlo, Tigo Iringa Regional Sales Manager, presented the desks to the Regional Commissioner, Retired Captain Asery Msangi. The Regional Commissioner then handedover the desks to the respective District Commissioners. These districts are Njombe, Makete, Ludewa and Wangi’ngombe.
The donation in Njombe District was facilitated from Tsh 26 million shillings raised for the Hassan Maajar Trust Fund in March this year during Tigo’s corporate social responsibility program ‘Tigo Tuchange’.
HMT is a non-governmental organization whose work focuses on improving school infrastructure to improve children’s lives at school. Its mission is to provide school desks and other furniture and learning equipment for schools in Tanzania.
Tigo has a strong CSR program that supports a wide range of activities within the focus of education, health/wellbeing and environment, so as to contribute in improving lives of many people in community that it serves. ‘Tigo Tuchange’ is a programme where Tigo customers can contribute money by buying airtime through Tigo Rusha during a designated hour for a specific campaign. Any airtime purchased during this hour is the amount Tigo contributed to towards the initiative.

Big Up Tigo and HMT ...you have given many students in Njombe region a reason to be happy !
