Talking of natural resources in Africa will not be a complete discussion without mentioning the United Republic of Tanzania. Gold, copper, natural gas plus enormous agricultural land are just but some of the resources at disposal of the East African country that enjoys one of the longest coast line in Africa.

If fully utilized then Tanzania as it stands for now will be a mining and processor of Gold to finished forms, with the market value and demand for the precious metal will not only create employment opportunities but a massive revenue and foreign income as well.

Being one of the biggest agricultural producer in the region, the country enjoys massive amounts of foreign currency in exporting agricultural produce, both horticultural and field crops to South African states as well as her East African partners, especially Kenya.

Tanzania is one of the biggest tourist destinations in East African region and being one of the most politically stable destinations in the region, there is no doubt European and Asian tourists will prefer visiting and investing in such a peaceful environment.

Tanzania further enjoys the largest share of lake Victoria's fresh water including the aquatic resources found in the lake. The large volumes of the fresh water gives room for hundreds of projects with this water in farming and many other areas of economic development.

Recently, East African states like Uganda and Rwanda seem to have opted for the United Republic of Tanzania over Kenya in terms of collaborative development projects like the standard gauge railway in which Uganda had to withdraw partnership with Kenya for Tanzania.

Protection of public resources through fight against corruption as is being done in Tanzania is another great milestone towards attracting local and international investors who will in turn open up the economy. Unlike most of her neighbors who protect the mighty corrupt government officials Tanzania is singling and parading these characters out of public offices.

The unity of purpose and public confidence currently being experienced in Tanzania is no doubt that the nation is moving forward as one people. If the same is maintained for a decade or longer then it is only a matter of time and the country will be economically muscling out with South Africa.

Tanzania is the future economic powerhouse of Sub-Saharan Africa

A reasoned article, however, even Tanzania is still protecting the mighty corrupt government officials.
