Theresa may akitoa taarifa za kijasusi Bungeni leo

The two men identified as suspects in the Salisbury nerve agent attack are officers Russia's military intelligence agency, Theresa May has confirmed.

MPs gasped in the House of Commons as the Prime Minister revealed British intelligence agencies believe the two Russian Nationals named by the Metropolitan Police this morning were officers of the GRU.

In an emergency statement to the House of Commons, she said "this was not a rogue operation" and would "almost certainly" have been approved at a "senior level of the Russian state".

Mrs May said: "The actions of the GRU are a threat to all our allies and all our citizens.

"On the basis of what we have learnt in the Salisbury investigation and what we know about this organisation more broadly, we must now step up our collective efforts specifically against the GRU.

"We are increasing our understanding of what the GRU is doing in our countries, shining a light on their activities, exposing their methods and sharing them with our allies, just as we have done with Salisbury.

"Together with our allies we will deploy the full range of tools from across our national security apparatus in order to counter the threat posed by the GRU."

The government has issued an Interpol 'red notice' and European arrest warrant in a bid to snare the pair if they attempt to travel outside of Russia.

Mrs May also revealed the scale of the police investigation into the poisoning, with some 250 detectives having been involved in the investigation, which examined 11,000 hours of CCTV footage and took 1,400 statements.
Responding to the Prime Minister's statement, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said Russia must give a "full account of how this nerve agent came to be used in the UK."

It comes after the Metropolitan Police confirmed two Russian Nationals had been identified as suspects in the poisoning.

Police and prosecutors said there is sufficient evidence to charge Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov with conspiring to murder Sergei Skripal and attempting to murder the ex-Russian spy, his daughter Yulia and Wiltshire Police detective sergeant Nick Bailey.

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said the two suspects are aged around 40 and it is likely they were travelling under aliases. Petrov and Boshirov are not their real names.

Prosecutors will not be applying to Russia for the extradition of the two men, but a European Arrest Warrant has been obtained.

Mr Skripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned in March by the nerve agent Novichok. Detectives believe the front door of Mr Skripal's Salisbury home was contaminated with the military-grade substance on Sunday March 4.

Mr Basu said CCTV shows the two suspects in the vicinity of the property on that date. Hours later, the men left the UK on a flight from Heathrow to Moscow - two days after they had arrived at Gatwick.

Mr Basu said: "We have no evidence that they re-entered the UK after that date."

The announcement on Wednesday relates to the first incident, but Mr Basu confirmed that officers have now linked the attack on the Skripals to events in Amesbury less than four months later.

In the second incident, Dawn Sturgess, 44, and her partner Charlie Rowley, 48, were exposed to the same nerve agent used in Salisbury. Ms Sturgess died in hospital in July, just over a week after the pair fell ill.

Two men seen on CCTV camera scouring around Salisbury town.

Mr Basu said: "We do not believe Dawn and Charlie were deliberately targeted, but became victims as a result of the recklessness in which such a toxic nerve agent was disposed of.

"We know that Novichok was applied to the Skripals' front door in an area that is accessible to the public, which also endangered the lives of members of the public and emergency service responders."

Police released an image of a perfume bottle recovered from Mr Rowley's home which is thought to have contained Novichok.

He said police continue to liaise with the CPS regarding the poisoning of Ms Sturgess and Mr Rowley.

Isipokuwa UK wametoa "European Arrest Warrant" ambayo inawahusu wakisafiri barani humo wakati wowotre ule.

Wataalamu wanasema Under the chemical weapon treaty,Russia inabidi naye apewe nafasi kwenye huo uchunguzi utakao fanyika. Kwa nini Uingereza inakataa? Ukisoma madai hapo juu ya Bibi Theresa May anasema "threat to all our allies" hii with our allies na scientist wa hiyo novichok yupo US na UK na US ni allies, UK anashinwa kuitengeneza yeye mwenyewe?

" You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time"

MS: Did you have the bottle of Nina Ricci perfume which the UK presents as evidence of your alleged crime?

RB: Don't you think that it's kind of stupid for two straight men to carry perfume for ladies? When you go through customs, they check all your belongings. So, if we had anything suspicious, they would definitely have questions. Why would a man have perfume for women in his luggage?

AP: Even an ordinary person would have questions. Why would a man need perfume for women?

MS: Where would an ordinary person see that you have a perfume bottle?

RB: I mean, when you go through customs…

MS: Long story short, did you have that Nina Ricci bottle or not?

RB: No.

AP: No, of course not.

MS: Speaking of straight men, all footage features you two together. You spent time together, you lived together, you went for a walk together. What do you have in common that you spend so much time together?

RB: You know, let's not breach anyone's privacy. We came to you for protection, but this is turning into some kind of interrogation. We are going too far. We came to you for protection. You're not interrogating us.

MS: We are journalists, we don't protect. We aren't lawyers. In fact, this was my next question. Why did you decide to go to the media? Your photos were published some time ago together with your names, but you were keeping silent. Today, you called me because you wanted to talk to the media. Why?

RB: To ask for protection.

AP: You say we kept silent. After our lives turned into a nightmare, we didn't know what to do, where to go. Police? Investigative Committee? UK Embassy?

RB: Or FSB. We didn't know.

MS: Why would you go to the UK Embassy?

AP: We really didn't know what to do. Where to go? Hello?

RB: You know, when your life is turned upside down, you don't really understand what to do and where to go. And many say, why don't you go to the UK Embassy and explain everything?
