Manchester City will begin the new Premier League season at West Ham United and face only one of last season’s top six in the opening 10 games.

City’s title defence gets under way at 12.30pm on Saturday 10 August at the London Stadium, with the first home game of the season seven days later, when Tottenham Hotspur visit the Etihad Stadium.

The reigning champions will host the first Manchester derby of the season, on 7 December, with the return fixture scheduled for 7 March.

A trip to Arsenal will follow the Etihad derby, while Pep Guardiola’s side face back to back fixtures against Liverpool and Chelsea in early November.

As always, the festive period will be a busy affair.

Four games in 11 days are scheduled, with City set to host Leicester City on 21 December, before a Boxing Day trip to Wolves.

Sheffield United travel to Manchester two days later, while Everton will visit on New Year’s Day.

In the second half of the season, the champions will again play Arsenal and United on consecutive weekends and do the same against Liverpool and Chelsea.

City host Jurgen Klopp’s outfit on 4 April, with just seven games remaining and will wrap things up at home to Norwich City on 17 May.

For the first time ever, the Premier League campaign will include a mid-season break, meaning one round of matches in February will be split over two weekends.

Five fixtures will take place on the weekend commencing 8 February 2019 and five on the weekend commencing 15 February.

CITY FRONTRUNNERS FOR FELIX

Manchester City have stolen a march on their competitors in the race to sign Joao Felix, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League champions’ willingness to loan him back to Benfica gives them an edge over Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, who are keen on the 19-year-old Portugal international.

Pep Guardiola has no qualms loaning Felix - who has a £105m release clause - back to Benfica given that Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus fired City to the title last term.

CITY EYE BACK-UP KEEPER

Manchester City have cast their eye on free transfer goalkeeper Asier Riesgo, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 35-year-old is available on a free after his contract expired with La Liga side Eibar, with Pep Guardiola said to be interested in signing him so young Aro Muric, recalled to the club last season due to Claudio Bravo's injury, can be allowed to leave on loan again.

Mundo Deportivo (via SportWitness) say Rodri has chosen to join Manchester City and believes he can become the best player in the world, in his position, at the Etihad.

Other reports in Spain claim Rodri has told Atletico he wants to leave the club.
