The Graça Machel Trust’s Women in Media Network (WiMN) is a group of journalists that are focused at changing the narrative of how women and children are portrayed in the media.

We want to drive social change through accurate storytelling of women and children in Africa. We are inviting you to be part of our amazing journey.

We are in the process of looking for the next generation of journalists that will make up our community of associate WiMN members.

“For society to attempt to solve its desperate problems without the full participation of even the very young people is unintelligent.” - Alvin Toffler

Our Emerging Student Journalists Contest is giving young writers and broadcasters of great promise from diverse and inclusive backgrounds a chance to tell their own local stories that reflect the rich diversity of the local communities they live in.

This is your opportunity to tell the stories of your community. These can be stories of impact showing how small businesses owned by women, youth, and children are impacting their communities and families.

They can be stories telling us the things that need to be done to address challenges in your communities affecting women and children. They can also be celebrations of how a woman or child in your community has started an initiative to address existing challenges. If it’s happening in your community, we want to hear about it!
