February 2018, Kampuni za umeme, Australia zilitakiwa kulipa fidia kwa wakazi wa Victoria, nchini Australia waliothirika kwa kukosa umeme, malipo ya $180 kutegemeana na muda ambao 'nyumba ilikosa umeme'. Zilitengwa $5M. Umeme ulikatika kati ya saa 3—20.
Huku kwetu Mabwepande, umeme unakatwa bila taarifa, hakuna anaejali, ni wewe Mwananchi kujitetea tena ukibembeleza waurudishe. Vinyozi, wachomelea vyuma, mafundi aluminum, wachapaji, banks etc hasara ni zao sio vinginevyo, nani wa kuwatetea? Nani wa kuwalipa fidia kwa hasara yao?

Tufanye kama Singapore. Sekta ya umeme ipo chini ya Singapore Power. Wanatoa huduma za umeme na gesi, wanasambaza huduma, kwa wateja wake. It is one of the largest corporations in Singapore. Sasa hawa SP wako na 'Major subsidiaries' ambao wanawasaidia kufanya huduma zao.
Mfano; PowerGas, AusNet Services, SP PowerGrid, SP powerAssets, SP Telecom, SP service, Nje ya hapo kuna SP wapo na Major joint ventures, mfano; Power Automation hawa wanahusika to offer engineering services in protection systems.

Umeme unakatika siku nzima wakati mteja amelipia huduma kwa ajili ya matumizi yake? Ofisi za serikali na hata Ikulu ni wateja wa TANESCO wa Post-paid, hawana shuruba hizi wanazokutana nazo wateja wa kawaida wa TANESCO wa Pre-paid. Umeme kwao haukatiki kwa sababu ya LUKU.
Miaka 60, (nusu karne na miaka 10) bado kuna zaidi ya 37 million Households hazina umeme. 32% ya watanzania ndio pekee yenye kutumia umeme wa TANESCO. Vijijini 17% na mjini 65%. Zingatia, vijijini ndio kuna wakazi wengi kuliko mjini. Rural population 68%. Urban population ni 32.3%
Mfumo wa manunuzi ya umeme hauna backup? TANESCO wanapokea kodi kutoka kila transaction ya kununua umeme, waboreshe sasa mfumo huo. Hizi hasara nani atafidia kwa wananchi? Mtumiaji analipa VAT, EWURA, REA katika fedha anayonunua umeme. Sio hisani. Ni huduma za malipo. Tunataka huduma bora.
Mfano, ukinunua umeme kwa njia ya mitandao ya simu, umeme wa Tsh 1,000/- Cost (gharama) 819.68, VAT (kodi ya ongezeko la thamani) 18%—147.53, EWURA (Mamlaka ya udhibiti wa huduma za nishati na maji) 1%—8.20, REA (wakala wa umeme vijijini) 3%—24.59, TOTAL 1,000.00
Kwa miaka 60 sasa, tumetoka UTUMWANI kimwili na kiakili bado tupo UTUMWANI kwa wakoloni WEUSI (kiutawal) Wananchi sisi ndio MZIGO. Tunawekwa gizani, tunakosa umeme kwa uzembe wa serikali lakini tunashindwa kuiwajibisha serikali kwa uzembe wake. Leo watu walipaswa kuwajibishwa kwa kuwekwa gizani hovyo!
