Tanzania has this week dealt two major blows to East African integration
1. She has not yet appointed two experts to represent her in the committee of experts formed to draft the constitution of the East African Confederation. Each of the EAC member states has appointed two constitutional experts to represent it in this committee. The committee cannot start working without being fully constituted.
2. She blocked the East African Statistics Bill which would have led to the formation of the East African Statistics Bureau (EASB). The EASB is a key institutional pillar for the East African monetary union which envisages a common currency for all East African states by 2024. This development means more delays for the EA monetary union.

MY QUESTIONS:
Why are we always the ones to slow down EAC integration instead of providing leadership?

We are in this integration first hand for Security purposes. Economic ambitions have never driven Tanzania into the path of intergration and probably they never will. Politics and Security are like dessert and breakfast for our political establishment.

Time will tell, as long as we still participate in other meetings then very soon this will be carried out. our aim is to intergrate with the EAC and not to be an obstacle that will prevent this.

Political federation?.....we can not run free and fare election in our tiny states, don't forget tribal issues in almost all states, yet some ignorant fools are thinking of political federation?......how about free movement of goods, services and people among member states, have we achieved that as a key to political federation, how about economic union?

TANZANIA KWANZA

TANZANIA KWANZA
What is Tanzania?
Mwalimu Nyerere said it and I will repeat it, unity may not make us rich but it will make us be respected by the world. NO ONE OUT THERE knows what Tanzania is. We are a small weak economy that contributes 0.0001% (probably) to the global economy. The East African integration project may change that!

Don't you think that a Political Federation will unlock all that? We don't have free movement because we are not united!

What sort of integration are you talking about? Have you forgotten pre 1977 when we even had single currrency in circulation? what went wrong and why? ;ONCE
My Take: Tanzania should not be a part of any regional agreement that does not take care of tanzania's interest.

Don't you think that a Political Federation will unlock all that? We don't have free movement because we are not united!
Tanganyika united with zanzibar since 1964...tz would not jump into another messy so easily as it already have its own experience. Todate that uniona-the political federation btn tanganyika and Zanzibar has so many unresolved issues.

Tukishawaendea na ajenda zetu mazungumzo yao yote yanafutika. Hawajui tz ndiyo EAC yenyewe
Tanzania ndo haijui potential yake ndani ya EAC. Sad.
Tungepaswa tuwe viongozi.
