Kuna msemo maarufu usemao kwamba," Namba hazidanganyi". Hesabu za mapato na matumizi yanaonyesha kwamba, SGR ya Kenya haina uwezo wa kuzalisha hata gharama za uendeshaji kwa mwaka ambayo kwa sasa ni Kshs 12B. Hii ni kutokana na ukweli kwamba imetengeneza 5.8B ndani ya kipindi cha zaidi mwaka mmoja kiasi ambacho ni chini ya 50% ya gharama za uendeshaji. Jambo la kuogopesha zaidi ni kwamba trains zaidi ya 12 kwa siku zimekua zikifanya kazi.

David Ndii, alishawahi kuekeza Mara nyingi sana kuhusu " viability & profitability " ya huu mradi na alishauri kwamba badala ya kujenga reli mpya, ni bora kukopa pesa kidogo ili kufufua reli ya zamani. Maneno yake yametimia:
1) SGR imesababisha Kenya kuwa na deni kubwa linalolipwa na kodi ya wananchi
2) SGR haiwezi kujiendesha, jambo linalolazimisha serikali kutoa pesa za wananchi ili kugharamia gharama za uendeshaji, mwaka Jana pekee serikali ilitoa 6.2B kufikia hasara.
3) Sasa hivi ndio serikali imeona umuhimu wa kufufua reli ya zamani ili kuunganisha na SGR, jambo ambalo litaongeza sana gharama za uendeshaji na usafirishaji kutokana na gharama za kushusha na kupandisha pale Naivasha.

Hahahahaha, this is insane thinking, Kenya imports more than it exports, second, Tanzania haijakopa kwahiyo haina deni lolote la kulipa, hivyo tutahitaji tu pesa ya kugharamia uendeshaji na *repair*, third, electric trains running costs are 70% cheaper than diesel ones.

Tuliza akili acha kuruka ruka, uliposema Kenya inazalisha zaidi Kwahiyo reli yao itapata mzigo mkubwa, hapo ndio nikakuonyesha kwamba sio kweli kwasababu wana import zaidi kuliko Ku export.

Kuhusu kutegemea mizigo ya importation, Tanzania tunapokea imports za Rwanda, Burundi na Sehemu ya Uganda ambayo tunapambana kugawana, kitendo cha SGR ya Kenya kuishia Naivasha, kinatoa nafasi kubwa kwa Uganda kutumia SGR ya Tanzania kupitia ziwa Victoria.

Hivi ukijenga nyumba yako kwa pesa yako kwa ajili ya kuishi na matumizi yako na familia yako, utasema unapata hasara?. Unachohitajika ni pesa ya kulipia umeme, maji na matengezo ya NYUMBA ili isichakae, au namna gani jombaa?.

It is stupidity thinking that an asset that was acquired on loan is always more expensive to operate than the one acquired otherwise. Ever heard of opportunity and notional costs? Sasa hivi 20% ya mizigo ya Uganda inapitia bandari ya Dar, kukamilika kwa SGR ya Tanzania hadi Mwanza, itafanya gharama za usafirija ya mizigo ya Uganda kupitia Dar, kuwa 50% cheaper kuliko kupitisha Mombasa, kumbuka WFP tayari wsmeshahamisha mizigo yao iliyokua inapitia Mombasa kwenda Uganda na South Sudan, sasa hivi wanapitishia bandari ya Dar hadi Mwanza baada ya kuboresha Huduma za reli ya kati.
