Governors have congratulated President Uhuru Kenyatta following the Supreme Court's decision on his October 26 win.

CoG chairman Josphat Nanok said they were looking forward to working with the Jubilee administration to protect devolution's gains.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Turkana boss asked the national government to allocate adequate resources to counties.

"The cCuncil of Governors wishes your administration success," Nanok added on behalf of the 47 county governments.

They joined Britain, South Sudan, Uganda and Bangladesh which congratulated Uhuru on his second term victory.

Governors recently accused the National Treasury of withholding Sh74.7 billion for the 4th quarter beginning April 2017.

Other conflicts with the national government border on division of revenue, allocation of conditional grants and development partner funds.
The messages came after the apex court unanimously dismissed two petitions challenging the October election results for lack of merit.

Separately, NASA and Jubilee affiliated governors agreed to initiate talks towards ending the sharp divisions following the disputed vote.

They did not specify the structure of the proposed conversations to end the row over electoral injustice.

This emerged during the kick-off of the 5th edition of the Kenya Inter-Counties Sports and Culture Association games at Machakos' Kenyatta stadium.

Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Mike Sonko (Nairobi), Ferdinand Waititu (Kiambu), Ali Roba (Mandera), Ali Korane (Garissa) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamenga) were present.

The leaders called for peace and tolerance among Kenyans following the divergent views on the Supreme Court verdict.

"We have pledged to initiate dialogue amongst ourselves in order to unite Kenyans and move Kenya forward," Mutua told journalists.

"We will work together to fight tribal politics because no Kenyan should die because of politics."

Oparanya said Kenyans are facing a myriad of problems which can only be solved through discussions.

"As governors from both Jubilee and NASA, we shall sit together with our principals to rescue the country. We don't want any more deaths in Kenya."

Mutua extended his gratitude to the KICOSCA Committee for choosing Machakos county as the venue for this year's games.

He wished all participants the best in the week-long competitions.

This is my simple explanation. Ni bahati mbaya kuwa nchi imegawanywa according to the 44 tribes ok Kenya yaani kila State ni kabila moja which is very dangerous. Mfano Raila kafanya kabila lake lisipige kura ya marudio kwani majimbo yote yaliyogoma na kufunga barabara ni manne yote Luos tupu!. Ushauri wangu nchi ingefaa iwe na mikoa mitano tu(Provinces) ili kuchanga makabila yaani Western Province, North Eastern Province, Rift Valley Province, Central Province, Pwani Province.

Tofautisha state na county. Hilo bunge la county ni kama tu bunge la madiwani Tanzania ambalo linaongozwa na council ya wilaya. Huyo gavana wa Kenya ni kama Councilor tu ama meya kwa tz akiongoza madiwani. Kama unakubali province ni kubwa kuliko county basi county ni kata ama tarafa.

(1) A county assembly consists of--

(a) members elected by the registered voters of the wards, each ward constituting a single member constituency, on the same day as a general election of Members of Parliament, being the second Tuesday in August, in every fifth year;
(b) the number of special seat members necessary to ensure that no more than two-thirds of the membership of the assembly are of the same gender;
(c) the number of members of marginalised groups, including persons with disabilities and the youth, prescribed by an Act of Parliament; and
(d) the Speaker, who is an ex officio member.

(2) The members contemplated in clause (1) (b) and (c) shall, in each case, be nominated by political parties in proportion to the seats received in that election in that county by each political party under paragraph (a) in accordance with Article 90.
(3) The filling of special seats under clause (1) (b) shall be determined after declaration of elected members from each ward.
(4) A county assembly is elected for a term of five years.
