The Government requires about Sh40 million to hire a jet to deport Jamaican cleric Abdullah al-Faisal.
Immigration Minister Otieno Kajwang' said Kenya will detain the preacher until Government finds a way of deporting him.
"It will cost between US$ 400,000 and 500,000 to hire a plane to deport him through West or South Africa
and for now we do not have that money because of budgetary constraints," said Mr Kajwang'.
Yesterday, sources said al-Faisal was driven out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at noon where he had been held under tight security.
The source said the vehicles carrying the cleric headed towards Nakuru, but the final destination was not immediately known.
"Check on any of the prison facilities along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway for now. He is out of JKIA," the source who did not want to be named said.
