Safaricom contributed KShs 654 Billion to the Kenyan economy in the 2019/20 financial year

:D :D its a shame that someone who claims to be an economist can even dare type such nonsense..
Imagine a world where kenyan Tea Farmers bring in ksh 50b in pure profit like safaricom does. How would that dollar inflow impact the lives of hustlers, the strength of KSH, The ability to payback eurobonds
you are usually so confident in your ignorance..

Safaricom, Vodacom to buy M-Pesa rights from Vodafone

Safaricom, Vodacom plan $13 million purchase of M-Pesa rights from Vodafone

''Safaricom, the most profitable company in East Africa, pays 2 percent of its annual M-Pesa revenue to Vodafone. Revenue from M-Pesa stood at 75 billion shillings ($741 million) in Safaricom’s financial year to the end of March.

Vodacom, a South African operator which owns 35 percent of Safaricom, pays 5 percent in an intellectual property fee to Vodafone from its M-Pesa business, which is mainly in Tanzania. ""
I asked for the mpesa shareholding figures, not stories. As you can see, safaricom still pays for mpesa licences

Vodacom said Monday it has agreed to acquire a 35% stake in Safaricom, Kenya’s biggest mobile operator, from Vodafone International Holdings B.V. by issuing 226.8 million new ordinary shares. The deal is a reshuffling of the pack for Vodafone, which has big stakes in both companies, in Africa.

You have nailed yourself:cool::cool::cool:

In less intellectually challenged english, vodacom (SA) bought the safaricom shares from vodafone (UK) not the mpesa rights, so the rights are still with vodafone.

Do yourself a favour, pick the safaricom annual report and show me any income from mpesa licencing.. goodluck!

its the English that you dont understand, there were 2 separate deals...

1.Vodacom to buy vodafone's stake in Safaricom - (this did not include M-Pesa rights)
2.Vodacom and Safaricom got into a joint venture to acquire "M-Pesa rights" from vodafone ... this is done

Just read the 2 links carefully, not skimming looking for the word "loss"...

you try to look smart by asking questions that make you look more stupid... the JV between Safaricom and Vodacom in Africa is to push Mpesa the product by themselves.

I have answered that Question, of the top of my head, MeTL & Bakhresa, MeTL from their last publised news letter says they contribute 3.5% of Tz GDP, not seen figures from Bakhresa though
Is that it, just two companies and not even a single Telco? Where are the relevant statistics concerning the foreign exchange that they pump into the Tanzanian economy?

The Telco industry in Tanzania is structured differently, competition is of prime importance to the regulator, no single company has 50% market share. Thats why unlike kenya, Tanzania calling rates are cheap, internet is dirt cheap, there very many options to mpesa.
The Regulators goal for telcos in Tz is to make life easiler and cheaper.. Not fleece the population with exorbitant pricing

uko na ujinga boss, if you wanted to look smarter you would be asking me the proof that they are no longer paying fees to vodafone..

They have the rights together with Vodacom and are doing a JV to roll out mpesa services to consumers out of Kenya and Tanzania.. they are not licensing to other Telecoms as of now.. if you don't understand that kind of business model familiarize yourself first.

As we speak M_PESA africa has an interim CEO and a team is getting formed... and guess what??? he is a Kenyan

You are so good at evading questions bongolala. Unaulizwa how many Tanzanian companies have subsidiaries in this region. It's not about how much they are contributing to the Tanzanian economy because if that's the case, safcom alone pumped 10% of your GDP into the Kenyan economy.
Again, answer this question: Does your best performing company have subsiaries in this region?
