Credible sources said Raila Odinga was invited personally by Obama on his way to South Africa last week where he was attending world class democracy forum.

I said here before that such visits are a disruption of the common man's liberties and so long as there is nothing tangible to be brought by the visit there is little to smile about other than short-lived bravado.

Sorry for asking, but how does this invitation really benefit Raila? Is it not like just a recognition by a president of a most powerful state? Or perhaps this is one of the consequences of the choices we made as told earlier? If it is, does the common man even notice?
