Triggering the brouhaha in the House of Windsor was the shock announcement by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Wednesday that they’re kicking their royal duties to the curb.

And moving to North America — most likely Canada.

Now, according to The Times of London, Prince Charles is threatening to financially cut the couple off.

The revelation comes as the Duchess of Sussex nestles into the $18.5 million Vancouver Island mansion the couple called home for six weeks during the Christmas holiday.

She is reportedly with their baby Archie as the crisis grows.

The Times said how much money the couple receive from the Royals depends on their roles.

Currently, 95% of their costs are bankrolled by Prince Charles through income he earns from his Duchy of Cornwall estate. The remaining 5% comes from taxpayers.

Financial records obtained by The Times reveals the Prince paid about $11 million covering the duties of Harry, Prince William and their wives.

The pair said in a statement Wednesday they wish to be financially independent but they are dependent on the largesse of the crown.

However, British royal watcher Robert Lacey said Charles wanted less working Royals and that Harry was effectively laid off.

Meghan also has earnings from her career in Hollywood as one of the stars of the legal drama Suits. But will that be enough to keep them in the style to which they’ve become accustomed?

She flew into Vancouver Thursday night from London’s Heathrow Airport and then reportedly took a connecting flight to Victoria near where the mansion is located.

Baby Archie remained at the property with his nanny as the couple apparently didn’t want to shuttle the boy back and forth across the Atlantic.

Their stay at the posh mansion was arranged by composer David Foster who is friends with the mysterious owner, rumoured to be a Russian oligarch.

Prince Harry is expected to join his wife and son next week in British Columbia.

Meanwhile, the investable has happened: U.S. President Donald Trump has weighed in on situation.

He told Fox News the Royal Family rupture made him “sad” and that he has great admiration for Queen Elizabeth.

“I think it’s sad. I do. I think it’s sad. She’s (the Queen) a great woman,” he said. “She’s never made a mistake if you look. I mean, she’s had like a flawless time.”

While the President didn’t suggest the Harry and Meghan should return to their duties at Buckingham Palace, he doubled down on his praise for the monarch.

“I just have such respect for the Queen, I don’t think this should be happening to her,” Trump said.
