Re: Alumni, Staff (Former & Current) and Friends Dinner Hosted by H.E. the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete for the University of Dar es Salaam on 18th October 2011 to benefit the Student Centre.Dear Alumni, Staff and Friends of the University of Dar es Salaam,
As part of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) 50th Anniversary celebrations, the University has planned various events towards the climax on 25th October, 2011. The planned events include conferences, anniversary Olympic sports, open days and an Alumni, Staff and Friends Dinner. The University of Dar es Salaam is honoured to have the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Honourable Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda (class of 1974) as Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the alumni, staff and friends dinner. On behalf of the Organizing Committee I have the pleasure to invite ALL graduates of the University of Dar es Salaam, the University of East Africa and University College of Dar es Salaam, staff (former & current) and friends of the University to a fundraising DINNER for the 50th Anniversary of the University of Dar es Salaam. The dinner function will take place on 18th October, 2011 from 6.00 p.m. at Mlimani City Hall, Dar es Salaam. The host and Guest of Honour at the Dinner will be one of UDSMs prominent Alumni, His Excellency, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete (Class of 1975).
His Excellency, the President is taking the lead in mobilizing the alumni staff and friends of the University of Dar es Salaam to support UDSMs efforts to construct a multipurpose student centre at the main campus at the Hill. The dinner is part of the Presidents continuous fundraising strategy to raise funds to meet the cost of the student centre estimated to cost about 17 billion shillings of which 2.9 billion shillings has already been raised. In this endeavor the President has been joined by his co-patron of the anniversary, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, another alumnus (Class of 1970) who has facilitated fundraising activities in Uganda to benefit the University of Dar es Salaam. I am, therefore, inviting you all, friends, staff (current and former) and alumni of UDSM to join hands with the President in the noble efforts of providing the needed and required space for our students academic and social life at the University of Dar es Salaam.
