BIG step for a small airline operating 3 x Q400's and 1 x Q300 no? no jets to a B787-8? and then 2 x CS300's?
In May 1991, Air Tanzania leased a Ethiopian Airlines N767-200ER, 9 months later it was returned, then there was Alliance Air 1994 to 2000 with a single B747SP (Air Tanzania had 10%, Gov't of Tanzania had 5%), while SAA (South African Airways had 40%) and Uganda Airlines had 10% and the Uganda Government 5%, 30% held in trust. It was a disaster, the accumulated loss was $US 50m in 6 years! flying London (LHR) to Entebbe, Dar es Salaam (DAR) and Kilimanjaro), see photos in Comments.
Now, widebody experiment #3, and still Air Tanzania is NOT ready for a widebody, little connecting/feed traffic (beyond and behind traffic), competition from Kenya Airways, and soon new Uganda Airlines #2 with 2 x A330-900 and 4 x CRJ900?
Then it faces competition at home at DAR from the likes of Emirates, Egyptair, Etihad, Ethiopian, flyDubai, Qatar, Swiss, SAA, Turkish, Rwandair? and they think they can compete with 1-2 B787-8's?
The above airlines have lost of feed for their flights and their 1-stop can be a whole lot cheaper than a non-stop.
This is going to be a national disaster, but President Magufuli will find out very quickly Air Tanzania cannot compete with the BEST.
