“We embarked on a special operation on February 11 to 17, this year. Among the 15 suspects there is a woman who was caught with 15 sacks of cannabis at Nkerege village,” he said.

Commander Mwaibambe named suspects over marijuana as Keraryo Mwita from Nkerege village, Joash Nyangi Rhobi from Motemrabu Kubiterere and Nyirabu Mwita a resident of Tagota village.

He also unveiled of holding two Tanzanians who were trafficking the illegal immigrants. They are Paskal Meng’anyi Kimwama and John Marwa Chacha residents of Ngerengere village.

The traffickers admitted of being paid between 100,000/- and 300,000/- for transporting the immigrants to Tarime and Mwanza respectively.

He warned the general public to refrain from doing illegal acts including marijuana business and human trafficking as the police force is well prepared to deal with them.

He encouraged the residents to invest more in cultivation of commercial and food crops for their live hoods and social-economic development.

“We expect to arraign the suspects after interrogations and investigation is completed,” he said.

Commander Mwaibambe further said that, they were also holding two suspects Juma Ayoub (29) a resident of Buturi and Michael Jacob (30) from Obwere Shirati village for allegedly injuring a woman in various parts of her body.
