A plane carrying former President Bill Clinton was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday in Tanzania due to engine trouble, CBS News reported.

One of the four engines on the Canadian turboprop Dash 7 plane stopped working. Everyone aboard the plane is safe.

The plane landed at the Dodoma fueling station, where the engine was being repaired.

The aircraft was traveling from Iringa, Tanzania, in the center of the East African nation, to Lake Manyara, which is in the north.

Clinton, who lives in Chappaqua, New York, started his tour of Africa on Wednesday in Tanzania, where he is visiting projects funded by his foundation to boost agriculture, health, education and wildlife conservation.

In addition to Tanzania, Clinton and his daughter, Chelsea, are scheduled to visit Kenya, Liberia and Morocco.

One of the Tanzania projects is a commercial farm operated by the Clinton Development Initiative that partners with thousands of neighboring smallholder farmers to provide them with training and good quality seeds for maize and soy crops.

On Wednesday, Clinton traveled to a corn field that is part of the farm project. He surveyed the crop outputs that have increased as a result of improved techniques and technology, according to the Clinton Foundation.

CCM mwaka juu watajutia kuwasikiliza nonstarter Kama Nape Nnauye. Wapinzani nilichoona wamejipanga na wananchi wameamua kuwaunga mkono. Wananchi wengi wameamua kufanya hivyo kimya kimya na hili liko wazo kabisa.
