SACOMA Fresh produce is an ethical trade company owned by Kenyans in the Diaspora. SACOMA imports fresh fruits and vegetable from all over the world with special focus on supporting small holder farmers from Africa to access UK/EU Markets
Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Kayanza Pinda visits Sacoma fresh produce market.
The Tanzania government is highly interested to opening new avenues for their farmers to sell their fresh organic products, and because of the successful story of SACOMA working with Kenyan farmers and Ugandan farmers, it was an opportunity they could not let go. This visit today June 7th 2013, meant that time has come for Tanzania to vigorously compete with Kenya for common market and with the kind of interest the prime minister showed, we will soon be eating the best sweet potato from Tanzania.
The SACOMA stall is open for the public as well, they are located at stall 82, and here you can buy the best sweet potatoes, tomatoes, Maize, and many other cheap but high quality vegetables. We are so impressed by the fantastic work the SACOMA FRESH PRODUCE is doing for farmers globally, as they are quite favorited by the Eastern european clientelle.
The market tour was followed by a special Sweet potatoes breakfast which highlighted the value addition activities that SACOMA is promoting the sweet potatoes from Kenya. CEO of SACOMA, Mrs Perez Ochieng explained how SACOMA will increase its capacity to trade with small holder farmers through increased volume sales, capacity building, branding and quality in specific response to the problem faced by smallholders in guaranteeing life sustaining incomes and livelihoods in Africa small holder communities. Irrespective of the numerous investments in agriculture producers continue to be faced by structural weakness in agricultural systems that affect their ability to become competitive and ensure positive agricultural economic returns. As an ethical trader SACOMA Fresh Produce has capacity to trade 120 tons a day and provides a guaranteed market for produce at the UK premier wholesale Market in London UK (Britain's premier number one wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower market). SACOMA provides the greatest choice of these products from all over the world. SACOMA has develop an integrated business model that rural African farmers are able to become stakeholders of the entire value chain.
During his Visit the Prime Minister acknowledged that it was indeed ‘possible' to have the Tanzania produce in the Market.
Also present at the occasion was Councilor Elizabeth Kangethe and Pastor Joseph Odima
