Dear ICT practitioners,
Tanzania Commission of Technology (COSTECH) in collaboration with IDRC
are planning for a "Pilot Regional Community Fiber Building Training
workshop" in East and West Africa.
Among the objectives for these workshops includes:
1. Creating awareness for Community Owned networks
2. Issues surrounding owning and/or building a fiber network
3. proposal writing for building such networks
4. A catalyst for future similar workshops
The EA workshop is planned to take place between 9th and 12th June 2009
at Regency Park Hotel in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. The West Africa one is
planned later in August this year.
A summarized program for the EA workshop is as follows:
1. Day one: i)Tutorial on Communication Networks, ii)Case study on
Community networks in Tanzania and Sweden
2. Day two: Tour to Wami Community Network
3. Day three: Hands on Exercises
4. Day Four: Proposal writing for Community Networks
We obtained funds to sponsor a few participants who will receive
separate invitations today.
Note that there is no registration fees, all others are expected to meet
their travel and accommodation costs. Please, confirm your
participation.
