Keep the record correct and you can quote me anywhere. Serengeti does not belong to the Maasai. Serengeti covers an area of about 10000 square kilometres of which 7000 form the Serengeti National Park (SENAPA). Less than 1000 square kilometers form the Grumet reserve, Ikorongo and Open controlled areas. The rest land is inhabitated with estimated 400,000 number of peasants of the Serengeti district in Mara region. The etymological ethnic groups in the area include the Ikoma, the Ngoreme, the Nata and the Issenye and later about 1940s Kurya from the North entered the district. Other tribes from neighbouring districts/regions like the Luo, the Jita, the Sukuma, the Ikizu (just to mention some) also entered in the district during recent decades to earn a living through different economical activities ranging from peasantry to tourism industry. It is therefore, completely improper to associate SENAPA to the Maasai. To me, this thread sounds like a conspiracy of some domestic and foreign pupets at the expense of their interests! Let the World over know this: Serengeti is not the Maasai's land!
