PASTOR TERRY JONES- ARRESTED- POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Pastor Terry Jones, the man who tried to organise the upcoming "Burn a Quran Day" has just been arrested by police on charges of possession of child pornography. Humiliated in front of his very own congregation and in front of the entire world.

He wished to mock Islam and encouraged his followers to burn copies of the Holy Qur'an on September 11, which has resulted in them indirectly helping many Muslim organizations generate huge revenue by their purchasing copies of the Holy Qur'an, and while he goes to jail he leaves behind his followers with copies each of the Holy Qur'an.May Allah Almighty grant them guidance!

Hebu soma hapa chini:
he big buzz on the Internet today is the claim that Terry Jones of Dove World Outreach Center was arrested on charges of child pornography. True? False?
A little digging turns up no — zero — not one news story on the subject. No, in fact the story, repeated with glee across the blogosphere, can be traced back entirely to an anonymous August 4th posting on the Gainesville, Florida page of “Topix”. It reads:
Infamous Pastor Terry Jones, known for his activism against the mayor, and for his “Burn a Qur’an Day” has been arrested for possession of child pornography. Wednesday August 4, 2010 Pastor Terry Jones was arrested for sharing pictures of children in various states of nudity over the popular file sharing network Limewire.
A screenshot for your enjoyment (click any for a larger version):

So how did it get spread so far and wide? It was picked up on August 6 by an automated aggregator at NBC.com:

Thence it made the rounds to any number of blogs, aggregator sites, etc., all citing “nbc.com” as the source. Bloggers and commenters wax poetic about the irony.
Yesterday, it made it to Pak1stanFirst, posted as a letter to the editor, apparently by an overjoyed reader:
“They seek to mock Allah, but Allah mocks them” (Sura An-Nisa) See how Allah humiliated this man in front of his congregation and in front of the world just like he wished to mock Islam in front of the world. “They plan (plot) and Allah plans, and Allah is the best of planners”

At this writing, there are 1.6M hits for “pastor terry jones child pornography” on Google. Of the first page, nearly all are simple reprints of the original anonymous posting.
NBC’s page now returns a 403 error. A search of Google News turns up . . . nothing. CNN, nothing. Fox News, nothing. Yahoo News, nothing.
Verdict: Confirmation bias. People saw what they wanted to believe, turned off their critical thinking capabilities, and spread a prank posting far and wide as fact.

Aibu yako!

It is one of the most widely distributed hoaxes. The guy, this pastor Jones is a radical who would receive sympathy from very few people. What he wanted to do wasn't so good in this modern world of tolerance. That being said, the whole story in the posting is a HOAX and everyone who comes across it is just happy to circulate it without checking the authenticity, but it is still a HOAX. If you watch news on tv, and read newspaper, you would expect it to have been in the news just as he was given wide coverage when he wanted to burn the Quran.

Update From Gainesville: Jones-Child Porn Rumor False, Partial Loss of Tax Exempt Status True

By: Jim White Tuesday September 7, 2010 6:11 amThe rumor that Pastor Terry Jones of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida has been arrested on child pornography charges is false. The rumor appears to have started in early August and has been posted in places such this CNN I-Report. Another link making the same charge at NBC.com appears to have been disabled, although it was live when brought to my attention August 21. After a bit of digging, it seems likely to me that this charge may have begun by someone falsely tying together two stories appearing after one another in a listing of stories on the archive of WCJB, the ABC television station in Gainesville. The rumor appears to have gotten fresh circulation yesterday both by email and Twitter. Here is how the WCJB archive appears today:

Note that the WCJB stories are both dated August 4, 2010 and the CNN I-Report and NBC.com charge are dated August 6.
Update: In an email, Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Corporal Tscharna M. Senn provided this confirmation:
The Gainesville Police Department has not arrested Terry Jones of Dove World Outreach.
While the child pornography accusation against Jones is false, what has received little attention in the national press is a report from the Gainesville Sun on August 12 that a portion of the Dove World Outreach property has lost its tax-exempt status:
After an investigation earlier this year, the Alachua County Property Appraiser has determined that a controversial Gainesville church will have to pay taxes on part of its 20-acre property because it operates a for-profit business there.
The property is valued at more than $1.6 million, but the 1,700-square-foot taxable portion is worth only $135,000, meaning the church's annual tax bill will be roughly $3,200.
Officials at the Dove World Outreach Center, which calls itself a charismatic Christian church and recently made national news for its plans to burn the Quran on Sept. 11, also run a business, TS and Company, selling furniture online out of the church's complex on Northwest 37th Street.
Finally, just to get more of a feel for those who participate in Dove World Outreach Center, here is a video that also is from the Gainesville Sun. The video is from August, 2009, when Dove World had put up its "Islam is of the Devil" sign and sent children to local schools wearing T-shirts with the same message. Note that "parent" Wayne Sapp in the the video is referred to as a pastor at Dove World in a story in today's Gainesville Sun:

Sasa aibu kwa NBC News au kwa wale wenye kusoma na kuangalia habari?

NBC-news kivipi?
