Bukoba. Padri Ireneus Mbahulira (80) wa jimbo Katoliki Bukoba amefariki dunia katika hospitali ya Mugana wilaya ya Misenyi akipatiwa matibabu.
Akizungumza jana Jumamosi Januari 23, 2021 Askofu msaidizi wa jimbo hilo, Methodius Kilaini ameieleza Mwananchi Digital kuwa kifo cha Mbahulira kimetokea Januari 22, 2021 katika hospitali ya Mugana Wilaya ya Misenyi alikokuwa amelazwa wiki moja iliyopita.
Amesema katika matibabu mbali na kuwekewa dripu kadhaa, padri huyo aliwekewa mashine za kumsaidia kupumua.
Amesema padri huyo alizaliwa mwaka 1942 na mwaka 1969 alipata daraja la upadri na alihudumu kama paroko Jimbo la Bukoba Parokia ya Buyango Wilaya ya Misenyi.

Rev. Fr. Ireneus Kaganda Mbahulira was born at Igurugati Bugandika Parish in Bukoba diocese on 16 October 1942. After Std, IV he joined Bunena preparatory Seminary, then Rubya junior Seminary up to STD XII (Now known as Form IV). In 1964 he joined Ntungamo the newly built Major Seminary in Bukoba. In 1967 when Ntungamo became a national Major Seminary he moved to Kipalapala where he finished his theology.
He was ordained a priest on 7 December 1969. He did his pastoral work in Bukoba, he was parish priest of Buyango parish for some years; when he moved to Dar es salaam he worked in Changombe parish, was Parish priest of Mafia parish and for a number of years he worked in Kibiti parish.
On 22ndDecember 2018 he decided to come back to his home diocese of Bukoba to finish his pastoral there. He first worked in Rukindo parish and now he was in Minziro Parish.
He attended the last priests retreat and on 9thJanuary 2021 at the closure of the retreat the young priests were joking with him asking him to do push ups. He responded joyfully rising up and down. This was the last time many of us saw him alive and vigorous.
He was a very friendly priest, ready to do any job he was given. He had wonderful relations with all and the people appreciated him.
He was admitted in Mugana hospital but soon his situation worsened and the priests gave him the last sacraments. On 22 December night he passed away.
As for me I knew him as he was my table prefect when I was in STD VIII and he was in STD IX. He was very kind and considerate. From then on we were close friends as we were both of the Baihyuzi clan our families linked up. Goodbye dear Mbahulira may the L
