OF THE OPEN UNIVERSITY OF TANZANIA
Qualifications and Experience:[FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]T[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]his is the most senior position of the Open University of Tanzania. The applicant must therefore be mature and not less than 40 years of age and not more than 55 at 12/04/2010. The applicant must have a PhD from a recognised University with an experience of not less than ten years of teaching and / or research in an institution of Higher Learning or research institution. The applicant must be an experienced administrator in a Senior Administrative position in a recognised University or Institute of Higher [/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]learning for a period of not less than five years
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]Duties:
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the University and shall be responsible to the Council for the implementation of the Open University Council decisions.
The Vice Chancellor shall have such other functions as are conferred upon him by the Charter establishing the University or as may be prescribed by Council.
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]The Vice-Chancellor as the Chief Executive [/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]of the University will specifically be responsible to the OUT Council for the:
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]a) Proper administration of the University in accordance with the Charter establishing the University
b) Proper planning and academic management of the University in accordance with the Charter establishing the University
c) Proper enforcement of decrees and by-laws issued by the Council
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]d) Proper management of the finances.
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]Tenure of Office:
[/FONT][FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a Universitys term of five years and may be reappointed for a further term of five years.

[FONT=Book Antiqua,Book Antiqua]The salary will be attractive and in keeping with the Treasurys Registrars Circular No. 1 of 1998.
