Our client is an Internationally recognised NGO with its Base at The Brussels – Belgium . It has been advocating for the Aquatic Life worldwide for over 16 years now. Its impacts have been felt and realized all over Europe, USA, Australia, Asia and some parts of The African Continent.
The NGO has got sufficient funds from FAO ( a UN AGENCY ) to extend its 12 years extensive operations in East Africa with Tanzania being the first country in the row. The client therefore wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions.
District Fisheries Coordinators ( 68 positions )
Under the overall supervision of the FAOSO Officer in Charge and direct supervision of the Regional and Zonal Fisheries Coordinators and the technical supervision of the international fisheries officers/consultants of FAOSO, the duties and responsibilities of the District Fisheries Corrdinator will be;
o Support the FAO fisheries staff to deliver the boat building, infrastructure, fish consumption and research components of the fisheries program as well as any other required fisheries sector program activity.
o Specifically Support FAOSO consultants during on-going technical capacity building to Tanzania boat builders while manufacturing the mould systems and to build new designed fishing crafts under the FAOSO Fisheries Fleet Renewal Program.
o Support FAOSO consultants and partners with Fish consumption promotion, post-harvest and value added fish processing activities.
o Develop regular communications with Ministry of Fisheries and other partners to integrate FAO activities harmoniously within the development plans and objectives of the MoF.
o Establish dialogue with local fishermen/ fishermen’s associations and coastal communities to develop an understanding of local requirements/constraints and issues to be considered under project activities.
o Facilitate trainings to fishermen on how to prepare business plans for the applications for loans for newly designed boats and other available finance.
o Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
o At least Bachelors degree in any of the following fields; Zoology, aquatic sciences, natural resource management, Biochemistry, food science and technology, environmental science, biological sciences, physical science, chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
o Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

o Receiving and Compiling fisheries related statistical data from field officers.
o Analysing fisheries data and preparing reports
o Assisting in monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources.
o Inspecting fish and fish handling facilities at fish landing sites, markets and farms and
o Assisting in the promotion of fish marketing and value addition.
Requirements
o Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelors degree in any of the following fields; Zoology, aquatic sciences, natural resource management, Biochemistry, food science and technology, environmental science, biological sciences, physical science, chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
o Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Field Officers (112 positions)
Responsibilities
