If its in the network then its a worm!.. Combofix its an on demand antispyware!... U just run it once!... It kills any trojan present!..... It works nicely!....

One thing you should knw about antivirus, it doesnt matter which one you are using. Any antivirus could strong in some points. Some of em kill some virus and cant kill others!.... I think any antivirus can do as long u can update it everyday!... To protect from is easy than removing a virus!....

Saa nyingine anti-viruses huwa kama hazifanyikazi, hata kama uki-update vipi.

You may want go hunting for them manually. You'll probably learn more about viruses than just updating your anti-virus software.

Go to
http://www.google.com/search?q=SysInternals

And download the suite.

Use autoruns.exe to check all the programs that run automatically on your computer, and try removing suspects. (Disclaimer: i did not write this. Try to understand what you are doing).

But sometimes, suspects are in memory and will always "restore" themselves once you delete their autorun entries. In that case try using procexp.exe (Process Explorer) to freeze/remove suspects before wiping them from disk.

Sometimes that may not work as well for some smart viruses/worms. You may remove suspects from memory and just realize they keep coming back. I would encourage you to use all relevant tools in the suite to hunt the monster down. Once you succeed, post your amazing story here for everyone to learn.

Also, once you have some what solid idea on how these little animals work, you may realize that you can sometime live without an antivirus.

In particular:
1. Make sure your pc is always uptodate

2. Always enable display of file extensions in the windows explorer, and be watchful of files with extensions .exe, .com, .bat, .inf,.scr. Also enable showing of hidden files.
You can do that in the Windows explorer
Goto Tools->Folder Options->View and be sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
If you dont see the "Folder Options" menu item in the tools menu, you have already been infected before. In that case, use "Smart Antivirus" (spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRDHFC44354511/SMART+ANTIVIRUS.EXE.html) to restore windows settings. If you still cant see it, then the virus is still in your pc, you need to get rid of it first.

3. Do not double click on flash disks of hard drives to open them. Train yourself to right click and click "Open". If you see "Auto" on the menu, you should be aware that the flash or hard drive is infected. If it is a flash and you double click on it it, you are practically infecting your PC with a virus (if it is not already infected).

4. Train yourself to recognize files you did not create. And dont open them unless you know what you are doing. Some virus executables look like folders. Don't just double click to open folders, unless you are really sure of what you are doing. You can select a folder and check its details on the left hand side bar in windows explorer. If it says "File Folder", smile and open it however you want. If it says "Application", delete it right away. If you cant delete it, its too late to prevent. Switch on all the alarm bells and whistles, and start hunting the monster down.

5. In windows XP there are two types of users: Computer Administrator and Limited user. If it is your personal computer, create two accounts. One of administrator and another of limited user. Use the limited user account for your normal activities, only use the admin account for installations and configurations only. If you are a system admin of some company, only allow your users to use limited accounts, you will save yourself a lot of headaches (unless you enjoy being busy attending users computers with virus insidents). It sometimes amazes me how much system admins in some places I have been get themselves into so much trouble. They install windows XP and let all their users use admin accounts. And then they wonder why their all system is a virus colony.

6. If you have a weakness with updating your OS, then use windows firewall, and don't allow exceptions unless you know what you are doing. It may make you a little happier a man/woman especially when you are in a LAN, e.g. in office.

7. Don't watch porno online, stupid! Because that is where most of you get them. If you don't have anything to keep you busy online, learn real programming you will be the busiest man in the whole world, and u can even start creating your own viruses for other porno watching people. Ask for help here http://groups.google.com/group/koding .

Those and others are the reasons some people can live happily without antiviruses and don't normally complain of them.

If you are using an antivirus: An antivirus is as good as the updates. If you don't update it don't be suprised if it doesnt catch even the oldest of viruses. And an antivirus doest not solve all problems; you need to know how to behave with your computer, don't just click on things aimlessly, and try following the above tips.

It surprises me sometimes when I see someone with several antiviruses in a computer infested with a number of malwares. One antivirus is normally enough, and as far as I am concearned, and antivirus is an antivirus; ignore all the hype; get on, know how to use it well, and stick with it.
