Job Title: PROGRAMMES MANAGER, NEPAD

1. DUTIES

The duties of the Programmes Manager will include but not be limited to the following;
  • Manage the conceptualization and formulation phases of new programmes and projects.
  • Provide a coordination point for the various programmes and projects of the NEPAD ICT programme.
  • Formulate and analyse proposals for structures that would secure the efficient organization and management of the Commission’s activities across the continent.
  • Develop and update the Commission’s strategic plan as well as periodically monitoring its achievement.
  • Provide contact with the NEPAD Secretariat, the African Union (AU), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), governments, other stakeholders and the public of NEPAD ICT programmes and projects.
  • Prepare progress reports to the Executive Committee, the Steering Committee, the Heads of States and Governments Implementation Committee (HSGIC), funding partners and other stakeholders on projects and programmes.
  • Develop promotional materials and write articles for publication on programmes and projects.
  • Assist the Executive Deputy Chairperson in organizing and managing the programmes and projects of the Commission.
2. THE CANDIDATE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The minimum qualification is a University degree in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or a business related field. Possession of a relevant Masters or higher qualification will be a definite advantage .The candidate should have at least ten (10) years experience in the project management ,five (5) years of which must have been at a senior level in industry, government or academia, preferably associated with information and communication technology (ICT). Relevant skills and experience in implementing large scale human development projects and managing a team of experts with different backgrounds within an international organization would be an advantage. The candidate must have solid experience in formulating programmes and projects.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The candidate must demonstrate strong aptitude to develop and implement projects which require the consensus among diverse parties. The candidate will be a seasoned professional able to handle a senior and demanding position. The ideal candidate should be able to lead a multicultural and multi-skilled team. Ability to read, write and speak in fluent English and French is a requirement. Preference will be given nationals of African countries.

Job Title: Project Manager

Duty station: Maiwut, with frequent travel to other locations.

Duration: 1 year renewable depending on availability of funds.

Justification
The Project manager will support the Access to Basic Services Project in Upper Nile. He or she will be responsible for a high quality, high impact and accountable programme implementation that meets the needs of targeted people, partners and / or institution (local authority); and the contextual analysis of ICCO programme and their environment.

  • Networking.
Requirements:
  • Basic degree in social studies
  • At least 3 years of experience in project management with development work gained in the humanitarian context.
  • Previous experience working with illiterate groups and some experience in personnel management with diverse and complex problem solving.
  • He/she should be able to work with less supervision from the manager.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated abilities in budget preparation.
  • Practical experience in/with Sudan is an advantage.
  • Highly ethical attitude towards work
  • Must be willing to work under difficult circumstances where security is not guaranteed.
  • Spoken Arabic, Dinka, Nuer and / or other South Sudanese languages.

Position title: Laboratory Technician

Desirable Qualifications:
1. Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology.
2. Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologies Board
and valid license to practice in Kenya.
3. Experienced phlebotomist conversant in biological specimen collection, storing,
packing and transporting.
4. Background and experience on Tb microbiology.
5. Minimum 3 years relevant working experience in a busy laboratory/medical
institutions, international organization or NGOs dealing with refugees/migrants.
6. Experience with an International Organization and NGOs dealing with refugees an
advantage.
7. IOM functional competencies required: effective communicator, successful negotiator,
creative analytical thinker, active learner, and cross cultural facilitator.
8. Demonstrated ability to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in
performing responsibilities.
9. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
10. Ability to work under stressful conditions.
