Simu ambayo inajaa kwa muda wa dakika tatu tu, chaji yake inakaa mwezi mzima kwa mtumiaji atakayekuwa online kwa masaa 12 ya siku nzima! Mwonekano wake wa kuvutia, audibility range yenye uwezo wa ku detect hata mazungumzo ya chini kabisa, speaker yenye usikivu tulivu, imara na hata isiweze kupasuka kioo chake ikidondoshwa umbali wa mita 3 kutoka juu kwenda sakafuni!

What about new infinix hot 12 ambazo zina uwezo wa kuwa full kwa dk 17 tu ilhali battery size ni kama infinix hot 10i ? Chenchele

I like your curiosity power!!!

I won't dive deep intrinsically in engineering..

Power(watts) is speed but temperature kills!!!

Any battery can charge up to 100% even in 1 sec. That depends on its capacity(Ah or mAh). It is like you can fill any size of tank in just 1 sec, greatly depends on water pressure and flow rate(Q/t). Care should be taken as tank's size is finite same as its pipes feeding the tank has finite pressure holding capacity before it burst.

A battery is designed with some limited operating conditions.

1000mAh and 4500mAh batteries can not be charged full at same time. It is possible but not healthy on one side, hence compromising battery life. That should not last a month holding its rated capacity.

Ku modify battery ku meet needs is possible. Is it economically feasible? Does it meet user expectations? Reducing mAh size meet their daily use? Increasing mAh meet their pockets$?

Everyhing is possible until to a point where you try to power the whole world by installing Solar panels in entire country.

Toka post yangu ya mwanzo i said "unless at some agreed exhange" between physics and economy. It is always a trade-off, no free lunch in this.

It is a mere marketing trick that wins a market.

The case of infinix 12 VIP:

Hope imetoka tayari this month. Tried to read its specs on their website, especially charge speed in 17mins from 120w. impressive feat indeed!!

Reality of 120W speed or marketing tagline? Lets explore.

Nimesoma charger yao ina two charge modes: hyper charge (4-20V 6A) and normal charge (5V 3A) and 4500mAh of battery size.

Sasa where does 17mins technically come from?

Sikufanikiwa kupata their battery voltage rating (ni internal). Like other phones at 3.7V or 3.85V that should reveal the reality of 17mins.

Lets make some intelligent guess:

From charge mode 5V 3A:
Battery iko rated 3.85V at 4500mAh ita store 17.325Wh of energy.
Charging time 17.325Wh/(5*3) equal 1hr and 9 mins. NO it is far from 17 mins.

Charge mode 4-20V 6A:
4500mAh x 20V equals 90Wh.
Charge time 90wh/(120W) equals 45 mins. So No its far from 17mins.


Hmm!!

Lets go reciprocally

17mins is 0.283 hrs

from 17.325wh/0.283h is 61w from charger

From 90wh/0.283h is 318w

But charger is limited at 120w so 318w from 120w is a miracle and the reality of a battery to go a Laptop mode at 90wh is questionable considering the whole phone's mass is around 199g (claimed).

So we stick with 17.325wh that charges full in 17 mins at 61watts.

Seems like wana 3.85V battery 5 au 6 in parallel to give a total of 4500mAh.
And some power electronics variable buckboost converter to throttle around 4-20V at needed amperes.

They stated that their battery can go 800 cycles and still maintains 85%. Of capacity.

800 cycles is charge-to-discharge counts.

Its BMS has 18 temperature sensors? I mean every corner of battery is sensed. To quickly shift from 120w causing that high temperature to normal 5V 3A until it cools down. The reason there are two modes charging. Battery doesnt like that.

Temperature kills battery.
A slow charged battery has longer lifespan than a fast chrged battery.

So they sold more phones at 120W (technically 61w as guessed) marketing tagline in exchange for shorter battery lifespan. You enjoy faster charge speed before it looses capacity. 120W is actually chick's 61w bulb but it is still huge.

R&D in material science and electrochemistry still give us rooms to improve mobility of electrolytes so increasing charge speed. We are yet to witness solid state battery and not stressing Li-ion poly battery.

Where is Xiaomi Mi 10 ultra 120w?
It was practically charging in 21 mins at 81w but battery temperature at above 45 celcius. Come back in 6 months.
