At least 17 people have been confirmed dead after a bus they were travelling in lost control and plunged into River Siyiabei along Narok- Maai Mahiu road.
Narok County Commissioner George Natembeya confirmed the accident saying the 63-seater bus was heading to Nairobi from Kendu Bay in Homa Bay County.
According to eye witnesses, the bus was trying to avoid a construction lorry which was joining the road when the driver lost control and plunged into the river.
The injured were rushed to the Narok Referral Hospital. Police and the Kenya Red Cross team arrived at the scene for a rescue operation.
