The Kigoma North Member of Parliament, Zitto Kabwe, has said his ambition is to become President of the United Republic of Tanzania ``when the right time comes``.
Kabwe was responding to a question from PST as to whether he would consider crossing over from his political party Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) to the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) or any other party like some of the prominent opposition leaders had done before him.
Kabwe said: ``I have no plans to quit Chadema, neither today nor tomorrow, because my goal goes beyond being an MP or even a minister, but to one day become a \'big potato\' in this country.``
He said he was planning to become a big potato while in his Chadema party and that he did not want to disrupt his plans to the State House by crossing over to another political party.
Asked to clarify whether by \'big potato\' he meant the presidency, Kabwe said yes, adding that he was not like some politicians who after becoming popular wanted to join the ruling party hoping to shorten their way to the State House.
``I am different, I want to achieve my dreams while a member of Chadema,`` he said, adding that he was aware of the fact that constitutionally his age did not allow him to become president right now, but he was willing to wait until the right time.
He castigated those who changed their political allegiance after gaining some popularity in one party, saying they soon lost the confidence and trust of the people they led so much that they could not now organise even a political meeting of five people.
The Kigoma North legislator said he was not there for the people of Kigoma only, but for all Tanzanians, and that was why he was exposing underhand dealings of the government.
