There are two huge construction activities next to GTC, ONE HAS REACHED ABOUT 19 FLOORS AND ANOTHER HUGE EXCAVATION. Anyone who knows this projects? Or are they part of the GTC complex.

When complete, Westlands we officially take over the mantle from Upperhill.

Look next to the GTC TOWERS. Another tower is rising. About 19 floors. Have no Idea about it. Rising just silently

Kilimani, kileleshwa, hurlingham, lavington, upperhill, westlands, lavington, springvalley, muthangari, parklands, highridge, south B & C,woodley, ngong road are no longer low density suburbabs, they gave up to highrise apartments long time ago, quality high end apartments that make that area look like europe,it hard to believe you are in africa if you live in those parts of nairobi, low density suburbs are being pushed further in the metropolis,i think karen, runda, roselyn, muthaiga, gigiri, ridgeway, lower kabete, loresho, kitisuru will retain their strict low density zoning much longer, this leafy western part of nairobi is very organized and rare in africa,so many posh organized estates adjoined together.

And then we have eastlands-lower middle class high density zone, eastlands may not be rich like the western suburbabs but it has some of the best planned estates in nairobi,it easier to lay out high density zones than low density since high density zones are sub divided into smaller units-take a look at eastleigh for instance,it's one neighbourhood that is laid out into a perfect grid system, far much better than the good old CBD,eastleigh first avenue is the longest avenue in nairobi, stretching all the way from juja road to jogoo road-a distance of about 5 km,then you have 19 streets steming from that avenue,19th street is the last street in eastleigh, below eastleigh you have the REAL eastlands, the first estates to be put up in eastlands-shauri moyo, kaloleni, makongeni, ofafa jerico, bahati, jerusalem, kimathi, pioneer, makadara, hamsa and the grand old buruburu, you have to love their layout-typical of british estates, take a look at kaloleni for example, laid out in a central ring street with avenues radiating from it,makongeni is a perfect grid, buruburu is just glamourous-finally you have inner city dwellings such as ngara and pangani which are about to undergo massive regenaration through affordable housing and nairobi wil be a city to behold.LOL i love urban planning with good architecture.
