Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Mwanza, Robert Gabriel Luhumbi ameagiza uchunguzi dhidi ya upotevu wa Tsh. Milioni 353.2 zilizotekwa kwa ajili ya maendeleo ya Wilaya ya Sengerema lakini hazikutumika.
RC amesema fedha hizo hazikufuata sheria za fedha za umma na hivyo zinaonekana ni sawa na wizi tu. Fedha hizo zilionesha katika ripoti ya Mdibiti na Mkaguzi Mkuu wa Hesabu za Serikali (CAG) 2019/20.
Amemtaka Mkaguzi wa Ndani wa Mkoa achunguze fedha hizo ili kuwabaini wote waliohusika ili wachukuliwe hatua za kinidhamu.

RC directs regional auditor to probe into 353m/- loss of council fun
MWANZA Regional Commissioner Robert Gabriel Luhumbi has given seven days to the region’s Internal auditor to make a thorough audit of 353.2m/- that was allocated for but not spent for the development of projects in Sengerma District.
Speaking recently at a special Sengerema District councillors meeting audit queries raised in the 2019/20 Controller Auditor General (CAG) Report, the RC said the money which was not endorsed by the council’s finance committee was outright theft as it was spent in violation of financial procedures, hence the regional internal auditor has to expose all those involved.
He said the query will not be closed unless the money is returned because they have used internal council funds against the procedures, and added that the audit report should show where was the money taken to, who issued what the directive, for what purpose and whether the councillors had approved.
“This audit query must not be closed until everything comes t light in regard to the funds’ use and if no satisfactory explanation is given all those involved should be arrested wherever they are,” said RC Luhumbi.
He further said it is forbidden to spend any council’s funds without approval of council’s legitimate finance committee’s approval, and added that from now on all cash collected should be directly remitted to the bank .
For his part, Tabaruka Ward Councillor Sospeter Busumabu, who is also the Member of the Council Education, Water and Health Committee said the Councillors have hailed the RC’s decision , hence they will work hard and will not favour anyone who performs his/her responsibilities in violation of financial norms and procedures.
Sengerema Member of Parliament Hamisi Tabasamu said government funds cannot be lost, Sengerema District needs to be watched over by a third eye and has assured the RC of cooperation in bringing development to the people of Sengerema
