Life is understood through the past, and lived for the future. Here is a man who left us with no economical legacy despite his 23 years in power.

Here is a man who stepped down on his own willing after 23 yrs of trying on a single approach that failed.

Here is a man, realistically can only be described as a one trick pony. A man without plan B, a man who accepted defeat and bowed out gracefully, a man who made sure no one is being elected next after him based on his ideas, a man who realistically understood he was a failure.

Yet his society try to adorn his reign with highest medals known to a man, if anything it tells me tanzania as a society is still stuck in the past, if today leaders still rely on a failed man for future guidence im sorry to say tanzania will always be exploited.

As we dwell with the past, others plan to exploit us whilst we are still in this deep sleep and if we think a man who failed after 23yrs of trying is a perfect example, the only justification i can give is we're still a primitive society.

Get scientific get realistic we should call things as they are and not what we think they ought to be.

Nyerere was a failure and did nothing special that no other could not have done given the chances and the opportunies he had.

Nyerere was a failure and did nothing special that no other could not have done given the chances and the opportunies he had.

Acha upuuzi wewe Juma Contena..... every human being is given chances and opportunities everyday....for example, today you have been given a chance to say something smart and you blew it!...

Viongozi wetu wa sasa hivi kila siku wanapewa hizo chances and opportunities kuwaonyesha wabongo kuwa wanaweza. Wamepewa Richmond, Dowans, Mgao wa umeme, Uchaguzi 2010, the list is long....na kwenye kila step wameboronga.

So i beg to differ, I think Nyerere was great and did great things, and probably neither you nor any current leader could do what he did given the same chances and opportunities.

Mna changanya mambo sana huyu Mwalimu was great no doubt about that, but also a one trick pony. Kwa namna nyingi sifa zake ni limited huwezi sema alikuwa na scope ya hali ya juu kama kiongozi wa kwanza.

During Mwalimu's time Tanzania, India and China walikuwa na namna moja ya ujamaa angalia leo wenzetu walipo hii demonstration huyo Mwalimu wenu akuacha mbinu endelevu au siasa sahihi itakayo ruhusu maendeleo. Yeye kaacha politics in sense of power ndizo zina athiri mpaka leo na maamuzi ya kijinga yanaoweza leta viongozi useless, akuacha politics in a sense of evolving ni argument nyingine kabisa. Well sina muda kwa sasa labda usiku kama thread hipo I will contribute.

After realization of some of his mistakes he was ready to step-down and accept his failure.
Viongozi wetu wa leo ni nani anayekubali makosa? ni nani anayeachia madaraka hata watu wana kufa au kupata hasara kwa sababu yao bado wanang'ang'ania madaraka tu.

Mtanzania ambaye uzalendo wake kwa nchi haujawahi kutiliwa shaka hata na maadui zake. Aliipenda nchi yake kupita upeo. Uchumi aliojenga haukuwa mkubwa lakini ulinufaisha sehemu kubwa ya jamii. Leo hii kwa kuangalia majengo marefu kwenye baadhi ya miji tunadhani ndiyo maendeleo wakati asilimia kubwa ya watanzania ni maskini wa kutupwa wanaoishi kwa kipato cha chini ya dola moja kwa siku.

Kamawe sitamsahau Nyerere maishani mwangu kwa mema mengi aliyoifanyia nchi hii.

Critical thinkers always view Mwalimu as a distinguished world statesman and a visionary leader and of course no leader is faultless. Through his influence Kiswahili was introduced as a language subject in some US Universities in early 80s not forgetting his writings on African socialism. Ask Andy Young former US Ambassador to the UN ! Musoma Catholic Diocese is also leading his beatification process. All these things show that his life was special be it political, private or religious. He has a legacy and anybody can tell it in their words!
