PRESIDENT Yoweri Museveni has called upon the public to support the bill denying bail to offenders of child sacrifice, rape and corruption.

“I would not want these murderers, rapists, defilers and corrupt people to be bailed out before six months. It’s now up to you to tell your Members of Parliament to support a bill to this effect,” the President said.

He was speaking during a fundraising function at St. Charles Lwanga Bubaare Catholic Parish in Ibanda district over the weekend.

“We eliminated people who used to kill and disturb Ugandans with guns but now we are disturbed by civilians who are corrupt and defile young children because we lack laws to punish them,” Museveni said.

The president’s comments came after the Ibanda LC5 chairman, Melcharduis Kajwengye, reported that a savings scheme manager stole sh98m from the cooperative society but was released the day he was arrested.

Kajwengye asked Museveni to use his authority to intervene in such cases, saying that people had lost a lot of money in such circumstances.
