Tunapoadhimisha miaka 25 ya EAC iliyofufuliwa, nilipendekeza katika hotuba yangu leo kwamba pia tutambue zaidi ya miaka 1,000 ya uhusiano wa kibiashara katika kanda.
Historia tajiri ya biashara ya zamani, iliyoonyeshwa na kazi za sanaa kutoka kwa Bigo bya Mugenyi nchini Uganda, inaonyesha kuwa eneo letu lilikuwa "Eneo liliyounganishwa Biashara" (CTA) muda mrefu kabla ya kuwasili kwa Wazungu.
CTA Eneo hili liliunganisha pwani ya Afrika Mashariki, ardhi ya nyika (savanna) katikati mwa Tanzania yaani Dodoma , na eneo la Maziwa Makuu. Lazima tutumie urithi huu ili kuimarisha uhusiano wetu wa kiuchumi na ushirikiano...

Museveni woos East African Presidents with strong case for Integration in Arusha Tanzania

As we celebrate 25 years of the revived EAC, I proposed in my speech today that we also acknowledge more than 1,000 years of trade connectivity in the region.
The rich history of ancient trade, illustrated by artefacts from Bigo bya Mugenyi in Uganda, indicates that our region was a thriving "Connected Trade Area" (CTA) long before the arrival of Europeans.
This area connected the East African coast, the savanna lands of central Tanzania, and the Great Lakes region.
We must leverage this heritage to strengthen our economic ties and collaboration.
