[h=3]Member of Parliament for Mpanda Urban Constituency, Mr Said Arfi (Chadema) has faulted Katavi leadership for not inviting him to participate at climax of the week long celebrations to officially launch the newly established Katavi region.[/h]
According to him he was also not invited to welcome the Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda who flew in from Kigoma region today at Kashaulili airport in Mpanda town. Mr Arfi who doubles as Chadema national Chairperson told the Daily News on Saturday today here in Mpanda Town that despite not being invited he attended the celebrations as he holds no grudges against the Premier whom he describes as a close friend.
I was not invited, yet as you can see I am on the way to the airport to receive the Prime Minister,Mizengo Pinda. I dont hold any grudges against him, he is my friend and during the Bunge sessions in Dodoma he involved me in several parliamentary committees .
So Im going there (to the airport) as an ordinary citizen, he said.
When reached for comments, Katavi Regional Planning Office Mr Huruma Mwaluranile admitted to the omission and promised to ensure that Mr Arfi got his invitation card I should admit that this omission emanated from our office.
In a related development Vice President, Dr Mohamed Gharib Bilal is expected to grace the Lake Tanganyika Investors Forum in Mpanda District, Katavi Region aimed at evaluating the successes and challenges recorded after the previous forum was held a year ago.
The one-day meeting scheduled today, will mark the climax of weeklong celebrations to officially launch the newly established Katavi Region.
The meeting, organised by the Katavi Regional Government in collaboration with counterparts in Kigoma and Rukwa aims at evaluating the success, challenges and progress made since the last Lake Tanganyika Zone Investors Forum held on October, 17 last year.
The event was graced by President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and seeks to enhance investment in Lake Tanganyika regions of Rukwa, Kigoma and Katavi. Vice President, Dr Bilal is expected to officially open Mpanda Airport at Kashaulili area this afternoon, which was constructed at the cost of more than 30 billion/-, financed jointly by the State and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR.)
