Kwa mara nyingine nimeshtushwa ma tuhuma wanazorushiwa Walimu kutokana na matokeo mabaya ya wanafunzi, nimekaa nikatafakari kwamba hebu tuone kama kuna ukweli au lah!! Maana kuna mambo ambayo yanamfanya Mwalimu huyu huyu ajikute kazi inakua kama mslaba kwake. Tafadhali soma na changia kistaarabu.

Moja, Ni wazi kwamba ili kuwa na elimu bora lazima tuwe na Vyuo Bora, kwa sasa na kwa ukweli ni kwamba Vyuo vinavyotakiwa kuzalisha Walimu bora havipo, vyuo hivi vimejawa na siasa na kila kitu kimekua siasa. Kwa mfano, Kozi ya Ualimu ilikua ikifanywa kwa miaka minne, lakini bila sababu ya msingi ikatoka miaka minne hadi mitatu. Wakazalishwa Walimu wasio na viwango na hapa Profesa Mbunda atakua shahidi

Mbili, Mitaala mingi ambayo ilifupishwa haikuweza ku-meet yale matakwa ya Walimu tarajali, mitaala ililenga kuwafanya wafaulu na wamalize na sio vinginevyo, ushahidi upo kwa vyuo vyote.

Tatu, Vyuo vikuu kutumia Tutorial Assistants kwa kiasi kikubwa na kuwaacha Walimu Wazoefu na wenye sifa, kumbuka hapa msisitizo uko kwenye wingi wa TAs. Vyuo vinavyotoa Walimu kwa sasa havina Lecturers kuna hao watu ambao hata hivyo wengi wao sio Competent, ni wale waliofaulu kwa kuibia ibia tu.

Nne, mazingira ya kazi zao nayo kigugumizi kitupu, hakuna allowance, hana vitendea kazi, hana motivation yoyote halafu unataka akuzalishie Wanafunzi wenye akili!! Ni kuota ndoto za mchana mweupeeeee.

Nenda Shule inaitwa Kazamoyo - Ikwiriri, hilo jina tu peke yake ni tishio, kisha darasa moja wanafunzi kibao halafu Mwalimu anatakiwa kufundisha Sayansi, hawana maabara, hawana watu wa Maabara, hakuna chochote then unataka wa faulu. Miaka ile nasoma Magamba Boys now (SEKOMU) tulikua na watu walioajiriwa maalumu tu kwa ajili ya maabara, sasa leo hii Mwalimu huyo huyo ndio mtu wa Maabara.

Mwalimu anatakiwa apewe vitu vyote vinavyohitajika kuwezesha darasa, fika leo wanavyohangaika na pesa, hutakiwi kuwachangisha hata pesa ya uji lakini unatakiwa wafaulu, huo Muujiza upo MBINGUNI tu ila sio duniani humu.

Distance toka Nyumbani hadi kituo cha kazi, unakuta Mwalimu na Mwanafunzi wote wanaishi mbali, the moment wanafika shuleni kila mtu amechoka, sio mwalimu sio mwanafunzi, kisha unataka Mwanafunzi afaulu kwa kufundishwa na Mwalimu ambaye anawaza usafiri tu muda wote.

Mishahara na Makato ya Walimu sasa, Mwenge (mkate Mwalimu), Ziara sijui ya nani huko (mkate tena huyo huyo), Ujenzi wa Nyumba sijui ya nani (mwalimu lazima akatwe kidogo), sijui kuna upuuzi gani kule (mkate Mwalimu). Leo hii naapa hawezi kujitokeza Mwalimu akaweka salary slip zake kwa mniezi mitatu hadi mitano yenye figure moja, kila siku utakuta umekatwa buku, faru John mmoaj au wawili, wekundu wawili au kadhaa. Sasa kwa hali kama hii hayo matokeo mazuri yatatoka wapi??

Moja, Ni wazi kwamba ili kuwa na elimu bora lazima tuwe na Vyuo Bora, kwa sasa na kwa ukweli ni kwamba Vyuo vinavyotakiwa kuzalisha Walimu bora havipo, vyuo hivi vimejawa na siasa na kila kitu kimekua siasa. Kwa mfano, Kozi ya Ualimu ilikua ikifanywa kwa miaka minne, lakini bila sababu ya msingi ikatoka miaka minne hadi mitatu. Wakazalishwa Walimu wasio na viwango na hapa Profesa Mbunda atakua shahidi

Yote uliyosema ni ukweli mtupu. Kwa hili la ufaulu hafifu ni ishara tosha kuwa walimu bado wako kwenye mgomo wa kimya kimya. Nafikiri serikali inatakiwa kutatua changamoto zinazowakabili walimu ili waweze kufanya kazi kwa hari kama inavyotakiwa. Mambo ya kuchanganya siasa na mambo ya msingi katika kutoa elimu yatazidi kuididimiza elimu yetu. Pia serikali inaweza kujifunza kupitia shule za private ambazo zimefanya vizuri ili kuboresha elimu na sio kulaumu walimu wakati matatizo yaliyopo kwenye elimu yanajulikana na hakuna juhudi za makusudi za kuyatatua.

1. Infrastructure- classrooms, desks, labs, teachers' houses, playing grounds etc. (Do we have them in relation to Na. of students? )

2. Curriculum - Syllabus, school practices e.g age to enter school, sports and games, religious sessions, school cultures etc. Does it accommodates boxers, footballers, athletic, musicians, entrepreneurs etc. Or it just prepare engineers, lawyers, teachers, doctors etc. How do our curriculum asses, evaluate and measure the students, what about education cycle (7+4+2+3)? Does gradual move from Swahili as a medium of instruction to English affect negatively our education system?

3. Teaching and learning environment - how many kilometre from students homes to school, teachers students ratio, teaching & learning materials. Some schools shares the wall with buses stations!!!!! This also can affect positively or negatively teachers commitment

4. Parents & students readiness - Does parents task end with paying fees, or the make a follow up, is a student attending school, is he/she engaging with other issues that interrupt his/her studies, is he studying because parents told him or because he want to?

Kuanzia Viongozi wetu, Walimu wetu, Wanafunzi wetu hadi Wananchi wenyewe wengi ni vilaza.

Elimu yenyewe ya kujibia mitihani inayopatikana kwenye nchi masikini yenye mazingira mabovu.

Mwisho wa siku alihitimu sheria anaenda kufanya kazi benki, na aliyehitimu uhasibu utamkuta mizani.

Tukiambiwa waafrika hatuna akili, Tunatukanwa...!
