MINISTER for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bernard Membe has described the killing of Ms Zhu Jinfeng, a Chinese investor, as an isolated criminal incident that could have targeted anyone suspected to have money.

Speaking to mourners in Dar es Salaam on Monday, the minister said what happened to Ms Zhu Jinfeng could have happened to anyone irrespective of his or her nationality.

"What happened to this family, the community, and to this big nation (China) which we are proud to call our best friend, is an isolated case and does not target the Chinese community or foreigners living in Tanzania" the minister noted.

Ms Jinfeng was ambushed by armed robbers at Kurasini on October 11, this year and died the same day of gun wounds at the Muhimbili National Hospital.

The deceased was the wife of the Chairman of the Chinese Business Chamber in Tanzania, Mr Zhu Jinfeng.

The minister also regretted the incident saying the government would bring to book the perpetrators of the crime and charge them in a court of law.

"They can run away but they can not hide. They will be caught," Minister Membe told the Chinese crowd at the funeral.

Mr Membe also urged business persons to refrain from keeping or carrying huge sums of money as bandits and robbers always target such people.

The Commander of the Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone, Mr Suleiman Kova told the bereaved family that it was only a matter of time the assailants would be apprehended.

Mr Kova also hinted that some few suspects believed to have engineered the crime have been arrested and were helping the police in the investigations.

He also called on the general public to cooperate with police and pledged a handsome reward to a tip-off that would help arrest the suspected killers.

The First Lady, Mrs Salma Kikwete, also attended the mourning ceremony at Kurasini area, before the body of the deceased was transported to the Hindu Mandal crematorium at Mikocheni area.

Hundreds of Chinese nationals took part in the burial ceremony, moving in vehicles from the Kurasini area to the crematorium, almost ten kilometres away.

There was traffic congestion along the road heading to the crematorium, off the New Bagamoyo Road for the better part of Monday afternoon.

The body of Ms Jinfeng arrived at the crematorium few minutes after 1pm and was placed on a heap of firewood as friends and relatives passed-by to give their last respects.

Speaking at the crematorium, Energy and Minerals Minister Mr William Ngeleja sent condolences to the Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Liu Xinsheng.

"Mr Zhu Jinfeng and his late wife have contributed immensely in the improvement of social welfare of their Tanzanian employees.

Minister Ngeleja acknowledged that his ministry was amongst the beneficiaries of China's financial support for the past 50 years of independence.

You people are really obnoxious. At his capacity he did a great thing showing up at the ceremony and speak on behalf of the Government. So, what did you fools want him to do or say? Stay at home? Even by so doing you would have raised concerns that he was no where to be seen at such an incident, shame on you hateful people.
