COLD BLOOD: Rehema was shot in the mouth and abandoned by the road side
- ‘Rehema, I’m Not The Godi You Know... Call Me Or:

The MP for Arua Municipality, Akbar Godi was yesterday detained at the headquarters of the Police Criminal Investigations Department to undergo a series of interrogation into the murder of his wife.

The interrogation of the Member of Parliament follows reports from Old Kampala Police Station that on the day of the murder of Rehema Nasur Ceasar, the MP had sent her a shocking message threatening to kill her if she did not call him.

Police has described this case as a high crime and police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba said yesterday, “We have him and we are just interrogating him, we may not get done with him this evening.”
The preliminary investigations, implicate the deceased’s husband as having had a hand in the murder of his wife. Reports further suggest that the country’s youngest MP, kidnapped his wife from Old Kampala and drove her to Mukono, where she was gunned dead.

Rehema’s Statement to the Police
According to police sources at Old Kampala, the 18 year-old Rehema Nasur Ceaser, on that fateful Thursday morning, filed a life threatening case under case number SD/62/03/12/08 at Old Kampala Police Station against her husband before she met her death that evening.
Our impeccable police sources intimated that a case file has been opened, purposely to investigate the MP’s suggestive involvement in his wife’s murder. The police action has been prompted by the relatives’ statements whose particulars leave nothing short to put Godi in the position of a Prime Suspect.

At police, Rehema accused her errant husband with whom they had separated for at least a month now, of threatening violence via phone calls and messages. She had also accused her husband of stealing her mobile phone on which most of the killer messages were sent. “Rehema, I am no longer the Godi you used to know, call me now or I will kill you,” reads one of the massages that Rehema filed with the police.

In the statement, Rehema told police that after reading the killer message, she switched off the phone and Godi went on to call her sisters and friends through whom she continued with life threatening statements, prompting her to open up the case. She further reported that even her close Tanzanian friends; Zaina and Naziz, at Nana hostel where she was a regular visitor, were equally facing the same threats from the MP.

At the police, where Rehema and her two friends spent close to four hours, the officers called Godi and he kept promising that he was on his way but never showed up until at about 12 O’clock when the girls decided to leave. After police visit, the trio went to town where Rehema left the two (Zaina and Naziz) at about 4pm and reportedly started moving back home.

Rehema Kidnapped At Fuel Station
At her father, Yusuf Nasur Waiga’s home on Martin Road, in Old Kampala, Rehema never reached. Police detectives are investigating claims by an eyewitness who said, he saw Rehema being kidnapped and dragged into a car which sped off at a terrific speed.
The witness, who happens to be a worker at Petro Fuel Station on Martin Road, narrates that at about 5pm, he saw a girl being dragged into a blue-coloured Toyota Rav4 with a registration number UAJ…. series. He however couldn’t capture the full registration number since the captors and their victim seemed to know each other. “Though the girl was resistant, all signs were suggesting she knew her captors, but again, the scuffle didn’t take long,” the eyewitness recounted.

At Mukono Crime Scene
On Friday, December 9, at Kisowera, Naama Sub-county in Mukono District residents were struck by the sight of the young, good looking girl’s body laying in a pool of blood with her eyes wide open, her hands nearly holding the head, suggesting she died seeking mercy from her merciless killer.
A witness at the scene later narrated to police and relatives how the terrifying story unfolded. The eye witness, an old man, whose name has been withheld, said that on Thursday night between 10pm and 11pm, he and his family members were awakened by terrifying wails from a woman who seemed to be calling for help. The old man, from a distance of about forty metres, saw it all and narrated the story.

He told police and Rehema’s relatives on how a blue Rav4 vehicle, pulled to a sudden halt and a woman came out shouting and running towards his (witness) house because he had slightly opened the door on hearing the wails.

He said while the woman ran towards his house, she was shouting shouting at her tormentor in vernacular which he could not understand, but with a northern dialect. After covering about ten metres, the old man started shouting, encouraging the woman to be firm and run on but this prompted the killer to shoot twice in the air, sending the panicky Mzee to shut the door immediately.

“He shot two bullets in the air and I closed the door, ordered my people to take cover but for me, I got a hole in the window from where I peeped only to see the man killing the helpless lady in a manner that deserves a treason offender,” the Mzee explained.

From the window hole, Mzee saw the medium tall man in a dark T-shirt shooting the lady around the lower abdomen, and that the lady was pleading for mercy while she dropped on her knees. She fell down and a momentary silence emerged before the killer swaggered towards his vehicle, but at this moment, the lady struggled back on her feet and tried to run towards the house.

When the killer looked back, as if to confirm that his victim had died, the stout, mean looking killer realized that the girl had stood up and he ran back, grabbed the lady by her hair using his left hand, dragged her and then forced her to face upwards; he raised his right hand, slightly swung his pistol above her head and pointed it straight to her face, sending a close range bullet through her mouth. The cruel man then pushed her and accompanied her with another bullet in her back.

What Relatives Say
At Mulago City Mortuary yesterday, relatives braved and nearly scoffed to the nose-piercing stench that covered the whole of the Mulago southern zone, given the nearly four day’s period the decomposing body has spent.
The relatives said they did not want a single stone left unturned and hence wanted the postmortem redone at the country’s referral hospital.

Hanifah Waiga, Rehema’s step mother, at her Old Kampala home where she (Rehema) stayed since her marriage fell apart until the fateful day, said all what the eyewitnesses narrate indicate that Godi killed their daughter. “When she decided to leave the man, I encouraged her to endure, but the story she told me tempted me to silently agree with her,” Hanifa said.

Hanifa says that the girl showed her scars all over her body and told her how her husband had on several occasions tried to strangle her, swearing never to return to what she termed as a monstrous husband. “I think he finally killed her but let us wait for police investigations,” she observed.

Police Acts
The police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba yesterday declared Godi’s detention at the CID headquarters in Kibuli.

“We have him and we are just interrogating him, we may not get done with him this evening,” Nabakooba said hastily adding that the MP has not yet been declared the prime suspect but police would soon produce the young lady’s killer. “The preliminary investigations are fruitful and I am sure we shall complete these investigations earlier than expected,” she added.

Rehema’s sisters; Aisha Musema Nasur and Hadijah Nasur said that their father has decided to bend cultural strings and bury his daughter at his home, instead of her husband’s home in Arua. Burial will take place at Wolo village, Odravu Sub County in Yumbe District today.

Mukono RDC’s account

Down at the scene of crime, the Mukono Resident District Commissioner, Major David Matovu has also come out to explain the stand of the district security authorities on the death that shook the district on Friday morning about the girl who was shot and left by the road side. He said the security agencies in the district were working together to hunt down the killer.

We received a call yesterday from the parents requesting to give us information about the threats the girl got before she was killed and all the information will lead us to the killer.
Security sources in Mukono said the cause of the murder could have been as a result of a quarrel that developed between the two, believed to have been secret bonkmates even after separation. However, the MP is said to have discovered that Rehema received Shs6m on her account, which the MP questioned its source.

On Tuesday, we published a story of an unidentified girl who was murdered in cold blood and her bodydeposited at Kawolo Hospital Mortuary. We reported that the girl was shot by an unknown assailant who was driving a Rav 4 car. Other local newspapers yesterday picked on the story to indicate that the murdered girl was MP Akbar Godi’s estranged wife.

A story has also been told of how the girl’s death comes nearly six weeks after the MP handed her over to her paternal uncle, Mr Louise Bran, over allegations of unfaithful sex escapades, culminating in a family break up.

Godi reportedly told the media that his latest problem came over a man identified as Abdul, who is suspected to have been shafting Rehema.

He further claimed that Abdul allegedly opened for Rehema an account in a city Bank in which he deposited $3,000 (Shs6m) for the lady to buy a car. But yesterday, while hosting a press conference at Parliamentary conference hall, Godi told journalists that Mbabazi (Amama Mbabazi) along with other security personnel from CMI, JATT, ESO and ISO among others offered Shs30m to his late wife in a bid to exterminate him. He said this plot followed his (Godi) continued instigation into making Mbabazi resign over the Temangalo

Until proven guilt, it has not yet been confirmed who is behind the murder. Never go by newsmen stories.

Why killing an Innocent girl?

The young politician [Godi] was very vocal agaist mafisadi in Uganda parliament [ AMAMA MBABAZI and his corrupt land deals] so a way had to be found by the big fisadis of how to silence him; indeed they managed through his wife!! African mafia in action.Vita dhidi ya mafisadi ni ngumu na wanambinu chafu nyingi; I hope our activists can pick a leaf from this incident.
