    James Mbatia

The High Court in Dar es Salaam on Thursday adjourned the case involving NCCR-Mageuzi national James Mbatia, who is challenging Kawe constituency results in which he was also a contestant in last year’s general election to March 17, this year.
The case was adjourned after the first respondent, the Attorney general, asked the court to give them time to answer the claimant’s prayer for financial relief not to pay 5m/- deposit in a court as a security as required by the law.
State Attorney Sia Mrema asked the court to give them seven days to present answers in court.
In petition filed by Mbatia on November 25, last year at High Court in Dar es Salaam, the claimant asks the court to oveturn the victory by Chadema MP Halima Mdee, who was declared victorious by the National Electoral Commission.
Earlier, Mbatia alleged that his right to be elected was compromised by Mdee’s abusive language during the campaign period.
He claimed that Mdee defamed the name of his party by claiming that NCCR-Mageuzi was being bribed by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).
