MCC yainyima rasmi Tanzania msaada wa trilioni moja kwa kutotimiza masharti ya demokrasia Zanzibar na kutofanyia marekebisho sheria ya makosa ya mitandao.
Pamoja na kunyimwa msaada huo, Tanzania pia yafukuzwa rasmi kwenye orodha ya nchi washirika wa MCC.
Uamuzi huo umefikiwa katika kikao cha bodi ya MCC kilichoketi tarehe 28/03/2016 (jana) siku nzima.

Washington, D.C. — In December 2015, the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s (MCC) Board of Directors deferred a vote on the reselection of Tanzania for compact eligibility, citing the nullification of election results in Zanzibar and the need for a prompt, fair and peaceful conclusion of the electoral process.
The Board also sought assurances from the Government of Tanzania that the Cybercrimes Act would not be used to limit freedom of expression and association, in light of arrests made during the elections. These concerns were repeated on a number of occasions, including in a statement of Ambassador Mark B. Childress.
On March 20, 2016, Tanzania moved forward with a new election in Zanzibar that was neither inclusive nor representative, despite the repeated concerns of the U.S. Government and the international community. The Government of Tanzania has also not taken measures to ensure freedom of expression and association are respected in the implementation of the Cybercrimes Act.
MCC’s model has a partner country’s commitment to democracy and free and fair elections at its core. The elections in Zanzibar and application of the Cybercrimes Act run counter to this commitment. As a result, while the United States and Tanzania continue to share many priorities, the MCC Board of Directors determined that the Government of Tanzania has engaged in a pattern of actions inconsistent with MCC’s eligibility criteria, and voted to suspend the agency’s partnership with the Government of Tanzania.
MCC will therefore cease all activities related to the development of a second compact with Tanzania.

Uchaguzi wa Zanzibar waikosesha hela Tanzania
Shirika la ufadhili la serikali ya Marekani limesitisha msaada wake kwa serikali ya Tanzania likilalamikia matukio kuhusu uchaguzi wa Zanzibar na kutekelezwa kwa Sheria ya Makosa ya Mtandao.
Bodi ya Shirika la Changamoto za Milenia (MCC) imesema Tanzania haijatimiza viwango vinavyohitajika ili kunufaika na ufadhili kutoka kwa shirika hilo, na hivyo basi haitapokea msaada wa awamu ya pili ambao ulikuwa wa jumla ya Dola 472.8 milioni ambazo ni sawa na shilingi trilioni moja za Tanzania.
Kupitia taarifa, bodi hiyo imesema: "Serikali ya Tanzania haijachukua hatua za kuhakikisha kuheshimiwa kwa uhuru wa kujieleza na uhuru wa kujumuika katika utekelezwaji wa Sheria ya Uhalifu wa Mtandao.”
Bodi hiyo aidha imesema Tanzania iliendelea na uchaguzi wa marudio Zanzibar ambao "haukushirikisha wote na wala haukuakisi maoni ya wote, licha ya malalamiko kutoka kwa serikali ya Marekani na jamii ya kimataifa.”
Mabalozi wakosoa uchaguzi wa Zanzibar
Mgombea urais wa Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Dkt Ali Mohammed Shein alitangazwa mshindi wa uchaguzi huo uliosusiwa na chama kikuu cha upinzani, Chama cha Wananchi (CUF).
MCC imesema kwamba huwa inatilia mkazo sana demokrasia na kujitolea kwa nchi kufanikisha uchaguzi huru na wa haki.
"Uchaguzi uliofanyika Zanzibar na kutekelezwa nwa Sheria ya Uhalifu wa Mitandao vinaenda kinyume na hili,” imesema.
Tanzania ilipokea Dola 698 milioni katika awamu ya kwanza.
Pesa za MCC hutumiwa kufadhili miradi ya maji, barabara na nishati.
