"On behalf of our family, we're deeply humbled to stand where men of such courage faced down injustice and refused to yield. The world is grateful for the heroes of Robben Island, who remind us that no shackles or cells can match the strength of the human spirit".

Tafsiri;

The event might also reminds Barack Obama about the fate of his own father, Barack Hussein Obama, Sir. A relative young Kenyan , a Havard graduate with Masters' degree in economy.

He returned home hoping to help in shaping the future of his newly independent motherland, Kenya, only to be frustrated by the Jommo Kenyatta adminstration. Unfortunatelly, what happened in the 60's and 70's is still an order of the day in a number of African countries.
In his book, The Bridge, David Remnick narrates;
" After the events of 1969, Obama ( father) began drinking himself into a stuppor, nearly every night and driving , perilously, home. He complained to Okoda, " Pesa Michula, en pesa ma ahingo"; " I am being paid peanuts."

In his sobber moments, Obama ( father) could recognize his own disapointments, the unravelling of his ambition, and he would say; " I want to do my things to the best of my ability. Even when death comes, I want to die thoroughly." ( The Bridge, David Remnick, page, 68)

Na hapa ni bashraf;

Mwaka 1969 ndipo Jommo Kenyatta alipofika Kisumu, na huko kukatokea sintofahamu pale wananchi walipompigia kelele Mzee Kenyatta kwa kusema; " Yuko wapi Tom!" " Yuko wapi Tom!"

Siku mbili baadae ikawa kamata kamata.

Akafungwa mdomo. Akaishi kwa wasi wasi. Akaanza kukongoroka taratibu kwa kuchanganyikiwa.

Ndio maana, maneno haya ya Barack Obama pale Robben Island yanaweza kubeba hisia kali kwenye moyo wake, anaposema; "The world is grateful for the heroes of Robben Island, who remind us that no shackles or cells can match the strength of the human spirit"."
