Manchester United are set to offer Tottenham a cash plus player deal to land Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, according to report this morning.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to rebuild his squad after a disappointing campaign, and has already made public his admiration of Spurs midfield star Modric, having written about the Croatian in his programme notes when the two teams met at Old Trafford last month.
He is also keen on left-back Bale, and tried to sign the youngster when he left Southampton in 2007.
Fergie is reportedly ready to offer former Spurs stars Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov to Harry Redknapp in a bid to land Bale and Modric.
Carrick was once an integral part of the United midfield but looks to be on his way out of the club after a disappointing season, while Berbatov has never really impressed since joining in 2008.
