Serikali imetangaza kuwa madereva 53 waliopimwa mpakani ndani ya saa 24 zilizopita wamekutwa na CoronaVirus. 51 Ni kutoka Tanzania na wawili wametokea Burundi. Aman amesema madereva hao wamezuiwa kuingia nchini humo baada ya kukutwa na Virusi hivyo

Amesema kila nchi inachagua namna ya kukabiliana na janga la COVID19, huku akiongeza kuwa Kenya inakumbwa na tishio kutoka upande wa Tanzania hivyo wamechukua tahadhari zaidi mipakani ili kudhibiti maambukizi

Katibu Mkuu (Utawala) wa Wizara ya Afya, Rashid Aman amesema visa vipya 25 vilivyothibitika baada ya sampuli 1,139 kupimwa ndani ya saa 24 zilizopita

Visa hivyo vimetokea Kajiado (6), Mombasa (5), Nairobi (3), Kiambu (3), Kwale (3), Taita Taveta (2), Garissa (2) na Meru (1). Wagonjwa 23 ni raia wa Kenya na wawili ni Wasomali, wana umri kati ya miaka 20-50 na 23 kati yao ni Wanaume huku wawili wakiwa Wanawake

Aidha, pia imetangazwa kuwa wagonjwa wengine 22 wamepona na jumla ya waliopona COVID19 nchini humo hadi kufikia sasa ni 336

53 truck drivers turn positive, denied entry to Kenya

Fifty-three truck drivers have turned positive at the border in the last 24 hours, the government has said. Speaking during his daily briefs on Monday, CAS Rashid Aman said 51 of them are from Tanzania and two from Burundi.

"...they were denied entry after testing positive at the border entry points," Aman said.

The CAS said every country chooses how they will respond to Covid-19. "Kenya has put in place to contain importation of the disease and now it's from the land. That is why we have tightened measures at the borders. We have a threat from the Tanzania side," he said.

The CAS maintained positive truckers will not be allowed into the country. "There are high-level discussions within EAC member states on how to contain the virus," he said.

Aman said Kenya recorded 25 new cases of Covid-19 after testing 1,139 bringing the total positives to 912. They have been 22 discharges bringing to 336 the number of recoveries.

The new patients are aged between 20 years and 50 years. 23 of these are male and two were female. 23 are Kenyan nationals while two are Somali nationals. Aman announced no deaths from the disease. The country's fatalities remain at 50.

Kenya can't be shaken by cold threats. Today Kenya turned back 53 drivers; 51 Tanzanians and 2 Burundians after they tested positive. Kenya will continue testing at the border post until that day we will feel safe. Those who doesn't want to be tested can remain in their country.
