(ANALYSIS)-Barely four weeks after proclaiming himself King Of Africa, the beleaguered Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi who is facing an uprising has vowed to take the war to his people amid reports that 300 people have been killed by the security forces working together with mercenaries hired to kill from neighbouring countries.

On the run...Muammar Gaddafi

Col Gaddafi who once dreamt of a united Africa under him as King, with Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe as his prime minister, addressed the nation on state television yesterday calling for a full scale war against his people, declaring that he was not going anywhere, despite several revelations that he was indeed on the run within Libya.

"I am not going to leave this land…..I will die as a martyr at the end," declared the defiant Muammar in a shaky speech made in front of the ruined Tripoli compound bombed by the US in 1986.
A sobre looking Gaddafi came face to face with reality and threatened:
"Muammar is leader of the revolution until the end of time."
Gaddafi who has ruled the country with an iron fist has blamed the US and other western countries for the popular revolution that might end his 40 year rule.
Detailed reports coming out of Libya Tuesday revealed that Gaddafi had lost control of the country's second city Benghazi, with the army and police deserting national duty as fears took grip that the country may find itself in full fledged war against itself. At the time of writing, militias had taken to the street and were now controlling most of the eastern part of the country.
The Middle East has been swept by a revolutionary movement that started in Tunisia, and spilling to Egypt leading to the downfall of the leaders of the two countries. At the time of writing the domino effect was rippling through the Middle East with shockwaves likely to be felt as far as Southern Africa in Zimbabwe where a despotic Mugabe maintains a grip but shaky hand on power.
Mugabe who has supported Gaddafi and rules Zimbabwe in a similar fashion to Libya is likely to lose a close friend to the revolution. (ZimEye, Zimbabwe)
