I do think that in what has transpired in Tanzania regarding the covid-19 pandemic so far, critics of the government are faced with a fait accompli.

You cannot prove that the government was not aiming at herd immunity though they never stated it as a strategy.

You cannot allege that seeking herd immunity by imposing lockdowns is tantamount to experimenting with people’s life because in our case the alternative is starvation. An equally, if not more worse sort of experimenting with human life.

If you claim that acquisition of herd immunity by the Tanzanian population is a hindsight on the government’s part you have to face the fact that regardless of unavailability or even concealation of information on cases of infections, recovery and mortality, the situation is still not so devastating as predicted. And not only that, you are still alive to tell the tale after all.

That leaves you with the unpalatable prediction that the so called second wave will hit the country hardest which amount to a deathwish for yourself and your own folks not to mention your fellow citizens. I would gather nobody hate themselves or others so much that they would wish life to perish just to prove a point!

So maybe everyone should just look ahead and swallow down their pride and vanities on positions taken. It is not as if you made a life and death bet which you lost and is now owed for life just by vetting for lockdowns.

But if you want to apologize and get the poison out of your system, I dare say that the great JF will surely accomodate you though I cannot vouch for that with certainty. You will definitely be the target of some stonethrowing as in this thread.

In short let ‘s have a positive mental attitude as we face the other aspects of Covid-19 which I am sure, will give us a run for our money.
That is, supposing we have any

And take care of course by adhering to the prescribed self and folk preventive measures since the disease is still with us.

Kama data zinavyoonyesha, ni kwamba Tanzania ina idadi ya vijana ambao ni asilimia 90 ya Watanzania wote. Wazee wenye miaka 64 na kuendelea, ni asilimia 3.1 tu ya wananchi wa Tanzania. Ina maana tuna risk ndogo sana inapokuja kwenye corona. Na wengi wenye magonjwa sugu wanaangukia kwenye group la wazee.

Sasa kuna aina mbili za immune ambazo zinafahamika na kukubalika duniani kote, nazo ni...

I)kupitia chanjo(vaccine)

II)Kupitia “herd immunity” ama kinga inayopatikana baada ya kupona gonjwa hilo.

Kila gonjwa, huwa linapewa asilimia zake za kufikia kutokana na jinsi ambavyo lina kasi katika maambukizi, mfano ugonjwa huu wa covid-19, wataalam wanasema kutokana na kasi yake ya maambukizi, basi ni lazima asilimia 70 ya wananchi wote wapate corona ndipo tunaweza kusema Tanzania tuna kinga kupitia “herd immunity”. Hapo ikiwa ina maana asilimia 30 iliyobakia inaweza kulindwa mfano wazee, wenye magonjwa sugu nk. Lakini kwasababu tuna vijana asilimia 90, basi ina maana hatutapata shida hata kidogo kuzipata hizo asilimia 70 zinazohitajika na WHO.

Mkuu nakubaliana kabisa na angalizo lako kuhusiana na wale waathirika. Sina uhakika kama vijana wadogo wameambukizwa kwa kiasi gani, ngoja tuhangaike kama tutapata data.

I am afraid that we are guessing that herd immunity is possible with this new corona virus without any proven scientific research.

Not all viruses human beings are able to develop natural immunity once exposed, one example is the virus that courses common flu.
The other thing is once a person acquires this virus in his youth when his immunity is strong, as this person ages and immunity falls as well as developing other ailments such as diabetes, heart problems etc then the corona virus in his body could resurge eventually shortening his life.

So we are talking about shortening people's life span if we allow this virus to be common among the population.
