Viongozi hao walijadili na kukubaliana kuongeza ushirikiano wa nchi zao kwenye maeneo ya Ulinzi na Uwekezaji.

NAIROBI, 26th May 2021, (PSCU)—President Uhuru Kenyatta today at State House, Nairobi held talks with visiting Foreign Affairs Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Faisal bin Farhan Alsaud.

During their talks, the President and his guest discussed the strong bilateral ties between Kenya and Saudi Arabia, noting that the two countries were keen on deepening their relations going forward.

Through the Foreign Affairs Minister, President Kenyatta assured King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia of Kenya's strong commitment to the expansion of the two countries partnership in trade, security and investments to cover other areas of mutual interest.

“We need to look at different partnerships to be sure we do not lose out. We are grateful for the development support Saudi Arabia gives us. We need to strengthen our partnerships in trade, business and investments.

“We also need to establish excellent initiatives, have outstanding agreements and strengthen our political network to enhance our bilateral relations,” the President said.

President Kenyatta welcomed Saudi Arabian businessmen to invest in Kenya's active infrastructure sector within thePublic Private Partnerships (PPP) framework, and informed the visiting Minister of the country's keenness on the revival of meat exports to the Middle Eastern country.

President Kenyatta proposed a joint business forum of Kenyan and Saudi Arabian investors to explore available investment opportunities, saying Kenya and Saudi Arabia can work together to secure their shared interests.

“Kenya is an ally of the future. We share various interests in a number of issues especially regional security and trade.

“We can work on a business forum to bring together our business community as we work and support each other,” President Kenyatta proposed.

On his part, the Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister assured the President of his Government's commitment to continue partnering with Kenya in achieving its development goals.

“You have a partner in Saudi Arabia. We have the same vision and we will continue working together,” Prince Faisal said.

The Minister, who was accompanied by Deputy Minister of State for African Countries Affairs Amb Dr Sami Alsaleh, said his country enjoys true friendship with Kenya, reiterating the President's proposal to explore new partnership opportunities.

Present during the talks were Foreign Affairs CS Raychelle Omamo and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Kenya Dr Mohammed Khayat.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta receives Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Nairobi. (SPA)

RIYADH: Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday received Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his accompanying delegation at the presidential palace in the capital, Nairobi.

During the reception, the Saudi minister conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, while Kenyatta reciprocated the sentiments.

The Kenyan president praised the Kingdom’s role in supporting regional and international efforts to establish the foundations of security, stability and conflict resolution in the African continent.

He also said he valued the Kingdom’s role in supporting global efforts to combat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic through its presidency of the G20 last year.

The officials reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations in all fields to serve the aspirations of the two countries, and discussed regional and international developments and issues of common interest.

Prince Faisal also met with his Kenyan counterpart Raychelle Omamo during his official visit and discussed ways to increase cooperation.

In a statement, the Kingdom’s foreign ministry said that Kenya and Saudi Arabia were “looking forward to advancing their relations in order to further the interests of both countries.”

At the end of the meeting, the Saudi foreign minister signed the memorial register of the visit, wishing the Kenyan government and people further progress and prosperity.

Prince Faisal also met with Justin Muturi, speaker of the Kenyan Parliament, at the Kingdom’s embassy in Nairobi.

They discussed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation in order to achieve the goals of both nations.
