There were mass demonstrations in Nairobi yesterday over Kenya's escalating Millitary spending while ignoring the funding of the Ministry Of Health. Civil society groups Matched to Ministry of Health HeadQuarters then headed to Kenyas Treasury to demand an explanation why the government was spending so much on the Kenyan Millitary as if the country is at war. The protesters were latter addressed by Ministry of Finance Assistant Minister Peter Kenneth who pledged to take the issue to higher authority Kenya has been at an Arms race with Ethiopia in the past 5 Years over fears that Ethiopia may end up dominating the region which Kenya considers itself as being the super power Economically and Millitarily. According to Global Security Magazine Millitary Spending,In the year 2005 Kenya was the biggest spender in Millitary Equipment in EAC.Spending Estimates:- Ethiopia--$296 Million Kenya--$281 Million Uganda--$193 Million Tanzania--$21 Million World Wide Military Expenditures However,things have now changed and Kenya is estimated to have spent over $900 Million last year.Middle East Countries like Jordan,Israel,Russia and USA have all pitched tent in Kenya to secure contracts on Fighter Jets Supply,Humvees and Navy Fridgets Supply etc. Kenya currently boasts of the Third Best Air force in Africa after Angola and South Africa while its Ground Force has got the best equipment in the region.Its even said that Kenya is selling off its aged tanks to DRC and Cameroon while its Navy is being stocked by the Spanish Navy.Kenyan Special forces get their Training in Israel and there is even talk that Israel is secretly selling their Mercava Tanks to Kenya.These are the Tanks that Israel Special Forces use when they cross to Palestinian Territories and which they usually use against Labanon's Hezbolla.Most of the Tanks in Kenyan Barracks are the Russian and Ukrainian Made T33. Are these not priorities that were got wrong?
