KILICLIMB: CLIMBING MT. KILIMANJARO TO FIGHT HUNGER

Want to gear up for an adventure in aim of raising Ksh. 60 million to aid starving Kenyans? Then get your gear packs ready because Nation Media Group in conjunction with the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) and the Standard Chartered Bank (Save A Life Campaign) are gearing up for a journey up Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Dubbed KILICLIMB: Chukua Hatua Maliza Njaa! the expedition is expected to be flagged off on October 3 this year with 60 NMG, EABL and Standard Chartered Bank staff members on board.

The initiative is set on eliminating hunger in communities located in the Eastern, Nyanza and Coast regions. Focused on long-term solutions, the initiative is set to provide water and irrigation facilities for growing food necessary for food security. Thirty percent of the total money collected will go to the Kenyans for Kenya initiative in collaboration with the Kenya Red Cross Society.

Standing at 19,341 ft above sea level, Mt. Kilimanjaro has widely been described as the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. Located in north-eastern Tanzania, the mountain includes the highest point in Africa known as Uhuru Peak.

The expedition will see the mountaineers endeavour to reach Uhuru Peak which is comparatively considered to be straight-forward, with the mountaineers expected to be physically fit in order to reduce the chances of altitude sickness.

Sidhani kama kuna tatizo as long as the Kenyans acknowledge that Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania. It is up to Tanzania (esp. Ministry of Tourism) to capitalize on this, instead of whinning for nothing!
Ndio maana nikasema hizi ni taarifa tu....ila mimi nilichokuwa nataka kuwafunua watz ni kwa namna gani watu ni creative.

Yeah, in this one Kenyans have proved to be creative. But we could be even more creative and beat them at their own game. It's just a matter of being confident, nothing else!

Sure! Ila nawapenda wakenya kwa jinsi walivyo outspoken na straight forward.
