Kenya’s total of confirmed positive cases hit 249, 725 on Friday, following a report of 291 new infections, announced via a Ministry of Health Statement to the press.

The new infections, tested from a sample of 6,501 posted a positivity rate of 4.5 percent and pushed the total number of samples tested so far, to 2, 562, 723.

“From the cases 282 of them are Kenyans while 9 are foreigners,” the Health Ministry said “160 are males while 131 are females,”

“The youngest is a five-month-old baby while the oldest is 100 years.”

Nairobi, Makueni and Murang’a top the list of counties with the most new infections, reporting 80, 36 and 25 new infections respectively.

In the rest of the country, the new infections are spread out as follows:

Nakuru 18, Meru 13, Kisii 13, Uasin Gishu 9, Marsabit 8, Machakos 7, Kericho 6, Busia 6, Laikipia 6, Turkana 5, Bungoma 5, Garissa 5, Kirinyaga 4, Mombasa 4, Narok 4, Nyeri 4, Siaya 4, Kajiado 3, Kiambu 3, Nandi 3, Kitui 3, Embu 2, Baringo 2, Kakamega 2, Lamu 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Vihiga 1, West Pokot 1, Kisumu 1, Kilifi 1, Migori 1, Nyandarua 1 and Tana River 1.

Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (12), 10-19 years (14), 20-29 years (60), 30-39 (50), 40-49 (56), 50- 59 (36), 60 years and above (63).

A total of 963 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,078 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

61 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 39 of whom are on ventilatory support and 21 on supplemental oxygen.
One patient is under observation.

Another 315 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 306 of them in general wards and 9 in High Dependency Units (HDU).

Meanwhile, Kenya’s total recoveries hit 241, 828 on Friday, following a report of 308 new recoveries.

“ 208 were from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 100 are from various health facilities countrywide,” the Health Ministry said.

At the same time, five new COVID-19 deaths have been discovered after September facility records across the country were audited.

According to data from MoH, 5,128 people have died from the COVID-19 in the country so far.
