I remember the day Kenyan troops crossed the border into Somalia and I remember how many people in Kenya and around Africa were sceptical of Kenya's success.
The mission in Somalia was declared a failure before it even begun.Why?
1. America (THE) Superpower had tried this game before and it failed miserably
2. Kenyan troops were regarded as the weakest in the region because they have never been battle tested-According to Museveni
So the world waited with bated breath,the massacre of Kenya troops by Alshabaab...That never happened.
Instead,the world was shocked when KDF captured one town after another without even firing a single shot.
What shocked many even more was that KDF was in no rush to move past the towns they captured.
Once they captured a town,they stayed there,set a local system of governance, dug water wells etc before moving on to the next town. As KDF moved along,Kenyans got daily updates on twitter-Major Chirchir and weekly press briefings by Cyrus Oguna T.V crews were embedded on some of the missions.
If that strategy had continued,KDF would have accomplished their mission in Somalia and come back home.
WHAT WENT WRONG AFTER THE CAPTURE OF KISMAYU?
KDF rehatted into Amisom which for nearly a DECADE was stuck in a stadium in Mogadishu. The mission in Somalia is failing for lack of COMMAND.
Right now Kenyans want answers on what happened in Somalia Yesterday and we forget that The answers are supposed to come from Amison HQ in Mogadishu and DoD in Nairobi.
My appeal to President UHURU KENYATTA is;
-Pull out of Amisom with immediate effect
-Address the nation and explain why you pulling out Amison..Kenyans will be willing TO FOOT THE BILL if;
(A) Prevents/reduces the number of Kenyan casaulties
(B) Brings about long lasting stability to JUBALAND.
This is war and casualties come with it and Mr President when Kenyan troops are killed,stop whatever you're doing and pay some respects. I remember the attack that killed nearly two hundred Kenyan troops last year. You were vacationing at the Coast and you went on with your vacation unpurtubed.
If the US or any other nation had lost that many soldiers in one day,a national day of mourning would be declared,with the names of the dead and missing made public.
None of that happened and instead you said that they will be honoured at the BARRACKS..and no names of the dead or missing have been made public.
WHAT IS OUR GOVERNMENT HIDDING?
CHANGE TACTIC NOW TO AVOID ALL THE CARNAGE OF OUR SOLDIERS IN SOMALIA..
